"He's big, tough, runs north and south, can take a hit and has enough speed to break it," said Joel Collier, the Dolphins' running back coach. "The maturity factor is also important. He'll see things that he never saw in college, and they might be things that we haven't gone over. He'll need good instincts to make the right decisions. We think he has them."

He's talking about J.J.Johnson...ouch!

Well at least he's not picking the talent..whew

J.J. Johnson's problem was that he got a hamstring injury that never went away. Pretty much ruined his career.

Well is he going to say....... he's ****ty he can't run for crap and he looks like dumbo when they hand the ball off to him?

Get on the positive side of football.......

A lot of other people thought that JJJ could be a premier back.....

the jump from college to NFL is huge and a lot of highly rated talent won't make it. Yet, a lot of underated talent will be playing Sunday. Look at Carolina's amd NE's rposter and look how many players came from schools below Div 1A.

JJJ was hesitating to much and was a "Mr Hammy". But I would not fault Collier for making that evaluation because a lot of other experts did have the same opinion.

You have to remember, too, that he was drafted along with Cecil Collins. The coaches may all have been saying things to provoke Cecil. JJ never had a shot until Cecil broke his leg - despite the hammy problem. Jimmy loved Cecil.

With all due respect, his problem was that he didnt see holes well, couldnt break tackles and wasnt a very good runner.

Hit the nail on the head there surferosa. Its not that Collier was necessarily wrong. He was indeed big, strong, ran north and south, and could take a hit...and he even had the speed to break it. But his timing and patience were aweful, and so was his decision making in which hole to hit. He also was kinda tall and ran really upright making himself a big target so that he didn't have would be tackles just falling away from him...more of a bull that wasn't bull enough to break away from the guys.

If Collier would have gushed about JJJ's shiftiness, patience, and vision THEN I'd be pretty durn scurred. God I remember JJJ it was like 1 and done with him. Takes the hand off, runs straight into the back of his offensive linemen, churns his legs a bit, falls forward for 2 and a half yards.
