Division Champs, what would need to happen

Ok, I was reading another thread and someone had the division record wrong so it got me thinking about what and how we can win the division. If this has been posted, forgive me. Now, honestly we aren't good enough yet to compete for a Superbowl title. But here is what I figure:

If we win this week against NE, they(NE) would still need to lose 2 more games to either Carolina, Buffalo, Jacksonville or Houston. (Grant it if they lose to Buffalo and we finish with the same record then we take it for division wins) If they do they finish 9-7, we could lose to Pitt and still take the division, finishing 9-7.

And here is how. Since we would have split with NE, and would have the same division record it would come down to common games. If they win vs Buffalo but somehow lose 2 to Carolina, Jacksonville or Houston, they would be 4-4 vs. common opponents, having lost to Indy, NO and 2 of the 3 teams above. We would need to win vs Jacksonville, Houston and Tenn. Finishing 5-3 vs common opponents, losing only to Indy, NO, and Atl. If they win 2 of those games it would go to a points system and they easily would win.

Now I don't believe that NE will lose 3 of there last 5 games, but you never know. Any given sunday.......
 
thanks for taking the time to figure that out..i don't think it'll happen but thats why they play the games..i still can't believe we lost to buffalo last week..i just can't see n.e. losing 3 of its next 5 games..
 
I think the Adam Nougateri commercial coming true has more of a chance.
 
What would need to happen is a better team. I'm going to root for the Phins every game, but I'm done looking at the playoff picture or taking them seriously this year. Losing to the Bills shows that this team doesn't deserve that.
 
If we win out, NE only has to lose one game to either BUF, JAX, or HOU and we take the division. If they lose to only CAR, it doesn't help us.
 
If NE only loses one game and we win out then we have the same record, 10-6. They would take the division because of common games since we would have the same conference record, unless that lose was to Buffalo.
 
This is why I was conflicted w/ you guys winning yesterday. I always like to see NE lose but we have a better shot at the WC and had NE beat you that would have put you guys behind us. Any tiebreaker scenario w/ us and either Mia or NE or even a 3 way tie and we lose out. Damn Ted Ginn!
 
Considering that we have the same record and own the tie breaker, how do you have a better shot at a WC????

Where do I say we have a better shot than you guys? I was saying in general we have a better shot at the WC than the division even w/ NE losing yesterday.
 
ok, misread it. Sorry about that.

Going through the like generator thing....gettig the division away from the Pats is going to be tough. Basically we need to win out and hope for Baltimore to lose to GB and Pit.
