He gets lost at the line of scrimmage everytime, and it essentially gives the team a first down. I hate it when they pass blitz him.

He had 2 hurried passes and a tackle behind the line when he blitzed last night...

yeah, but the question is how many rush yards we gave up because zach was wrestling with the center in the middle of the field instead of tackling the running back on the outside.

I agree with you.....

whats worse is when he is in pass coverage... 87 yard TD's in the fourth quarter are never good...

And the question I have is, where was the rest of the defense?
either (LB) lost at the LOS or (DB) responsible for four guys for 3+ seconds... In other words, they were on a island. That is why i don't care about 2 hurries. We have to stop the blitzing.

I like our base 4/3 D with JT rushing from the right DE, he is awesome from the right and if comes from that side all game long he will beat the protection and cause some hurried passes. i don't think moving him around nets us any more advantages. He is our best pass rusher and goes up against the best OT, and he often wins that battle. When he drops into 3/4 we rarely get pressure on the QB which puts a lot of pressure on our DB's.

Uh, Zach Thomas last season and last night was effective blitzing on both running nad passing downs, sorry.

That was blown coverage on someone elses behalf. There is no way that Zach Thomas is responsible for a TE on a deep post with no help over the top.

Uhh...what? Taylor isnt any better from the right then he is the left. He's set to line up generally on an offenses weak side, that's the best place to rush him from.

Do you seriously think that moving him to the side with less blockers does not net any advantages?

Yeah, sometimes I think these defensive geniuses outsmart themselves with their 3-4 hybrid-this disguise-that defenses. IMO, Zach and/or JT dropping into pass coverage is a waste of their true talents and creates a mismatch for the offense. Sometimes when you have great players, the best thing to do is just line them up and let them outperform their opponent. Seemed to work for Pittsburgh.
