..the achievement today. As i wrote in a early thread www.finheaven.com/forums/f2/be-very-worried-237596.html this game worried me more than any other over the last month. A lot of teams could have lost here. KC's offense has been one of the highest scoring since thigpen took over and they went to a spread. KC had nothing to lose, going on 4th downs etc.. this was a trap game in Mia's coldest contest of the year ( in fact coldest game ever for a Mia team). It would have been very easy to fall apart down late in the 3rd.

I honestly thoughtthe D would collapse the colder it got and the more tired we got. I thought the short 8-yard passes from teh spread and, subsequently, the QB dashes when Mia tried to spread with it, were going to be even more pronounced in the 2nd half. This D came out strong with 25 minutes to go. I'm encouraged by their response late in the game. And except for that terrible 4th down call, the playcalling and QB play on offense continue to be fantastic.

This game scared me more than the Jets. That's not to say we'll win for sure next week. But I thought the better team really could lose in KC today. Next week, I think the better team will win. And I honestly think that's us. we're better coached, and we have far better QB play (Farve, please). Unlike them, we win because of our QB, not in spite of him.

The biggest wildcard is Joey porter and the pass rush. If they don't show up and force farve into being, well, Farve-like in 2008, it could be a long day. I want to see some new blitz packages from Paul P next week. some creativity on D in the pass rush and I think we'll win!

K.C. was a phenomenal matchup against our defense and they took advantage of it in the first half. I know a lot of people are down on the team after that, but personally, I am extremely proud of the way this team performed under adversity today knowing that the season was on the line. The defense actually had a heck of a second half, and the offense was productive all day long and had to make some big plays to put us in position to even be tied, much less win. It was a great preparation for the Jets next week and I'm proud of the way my team played.

With all due respect.. what defense? As Dick Emberge (I think) said.. "Miami is playing like there is only 7 (players) on defense"...

If we could somehow find a way to tighten up the coverage and cause a few 3 and outs.. we would be a really really good team..

Yes it started off shaky, but if you had $100 to bet in the 2nd quarter on which D would run out of gas first, would you pick against the Fins? i would have. They showed something. Mia hasn't played a game this cold in a LONG time and they prevailed. believe me, if you're not used to playing in that kind of craziness (and -20 with the wind is pretty close to ridiculous) it can break you. They hung on. No, they outplayed. That counts for something

Take off!

You are strange brew!

or the pats game
Yup, I was reminded most of our 2nd game against the Pats. The way we couldn't stop anything on defense and just watched the opposing offense march down the field time after time. Pretty scary sight.

Thank god our defense stepped up at the right time today, or else it could've gotten out of hand really quick in the third quarter.
