Do the Fins already have the next Miles Austin/Victor Cruz?

Since the trade of Marshall, the FO has been adamant that each move has been thoroughly planned and executed. That we can't see the big picture yet, but it's slowly coming to fruition.

This leaves me to wonder: do they plan to make WR a top priority in the draft? I don't believe we'll use the #8 on a receiver, but Green Bay made a hobby out of using 2nd round picks on receiver (Jennings, Nelson, Cobb).

Or perhaps, could we have a pro-bowl WR already on the team? We've heard over the last couple years how talented Wallace, Pruitt, and Moore are and how well they practice. Could it be time one of them steps up big for the Fins, ala Austin or Cruz? Both guys went from practice/preseason stars to pro-bowlers in a very short time.
 
WCO is more reliant on second tier WR's. Hence why trading Marshall should not be that big of a loss. WCO receivers need to run crisp routs, it's all about timing and route running rather than muscle your way into a slot and out power CB's.

This is good for Hartline and Bess, both are excellent route runners and have good hands. Marshall was more of a free lance route runner something that is terrible for the WCO.

Look at GB, sure Jennings is the prime time WR but were did this Cobb guy come from? James Jones, Jordy Nelson? even Donald Driver at the age of 50!

This is also another reason why taking a WR in the first or second round just because of college production would be foolish. Philbin will (should) take more of a Bilicheat approach and trying to find players to fit specific roles. (Wes Welker) who the hell would of ever though he would be a top NFL WR?

Basically WCO we need to have three #2 WR's on the field, instead of a #1,2,3....etc. OH! and one hell of a TE.

My concern is that - Who can beat, get seperation from Revis/Cromartie (Jets), McGEE and Florence (Bills) and Kyke Arrington/McCourty (Pats) on a regular basis twice a year???

When we had a guy like Marshall, the defense had to double team, roll a safety on his side and account for him all the time on the field which opened up Reggie Bush and the running game.. I'm not sure Hartline, Roberto Wallace, and Bess scares them that much....

I'd say Gates gets in before Wallace.

Hartline, Bess, Gates and probably 2 WR's in the draft.
 
WCO seems like a great fit for Bess and Hartline. Brandon Marshall would have had to make an adjustment, he looks like TO but he doesn't run routes as well as TO did in San Fran and Philly. I don't think that we have a Victor Cruz or Miles Austin on our roster, I can't speak for Miles but a lot of people knew Victor was going to do well, it amazes me how the Giants managed to keep him stashed on the PS for an entire year. The guy had 200 yds receiving in a pre season came his rookie year.
 
i think we find our guy in the draft.not to sure he is on the roster as of yet perhaps gates but thats a big ?

From the 2nd round, which is also where Jennings and Jordy Nelson came from.

How many times in four years -- other than the boneheaded Marshall trade -- has Ireland invested anything more than a 3rd round pick on a receiver?

Jordy is a very good WR, and they have Greg Jennings...

When you talk about WCO and WR's its all about timing , route running and size. You like to have a guy that can run over the middle who can take the ball after making a 7 yard slant and take it to the house..T.

Timed speed is not as important..

But in todays NFL WCO is mixed into most offenses...and sure There are teams that like speed in their recievers

Eagles are an example of that. WCO has morphed so much...and coaches like different players for different reasons

If any of those corners, other than Revis and maybe McGee, were any good they can only account for 2 WRs...and with the offense Philbin runs there'll be a lot of 4 and 5 receiver sets and only the Bills have even one decent cover safety. Then there's Bush and Clay to account for too. I think Clay's gonna be an absolute beast this year!
 
I would watch out for Pruitt. 6'2" and can run. Don't know much about his route running, but seems like he could fit the mold after being on the PS for two years.
 
I highly doubt it, I don't see Gates coming out extremely strong. We really need a good draft this year. Atleast 2 wrs
