Do the Fins already have the next Miles Austin/Victor Cruz?

I am very interested to see what Hartline can offer in Philbin's system.

He's got decent speed, great body control, and good hands.

Bess, well he should accel in Philbin's offense because his style is exactly what they desire.

I would watch out for Pruitt. 6'2" and can run. Don't know much about his route running, but seems like he could fit the mold after being on the PS for two years.

I've been at practice the last two years and watched Pruitt. The man fights the ball like a retarded cyclops.

Roberto Wallace has huge potential.

Better than Marshall potential

Wallace indeed has a lot of potential. People have been saying that about him since high school, yet it's never really shown. He's as big as Marshall and faster. But he is awful getting off the line of scrimmage. Even smallish, incompetent corners utterly stone him.

we'll end up burning our 3rd round picks on the likes of wrs devier posey and marvin mcnutt...and i will upchuck

patrick turner all over again nfl production...

Completely agree...i've always liked Hartline and i personally think he could explode next year. He's faster than people think, very good hands and an excellent route runner so i think he could have a great season. I'm also interested to see what Clay does next year because he looked like a massive threat and times last season and could be an absolute nightmare for safeties/linebackers.

if hartline has a big year you can thank the scheme cause if he we leave him to where the opposition can line up their best corner over him by not using motion and not running overload wr sets etc hartline will be wearing those top team corners like drapes...

what am i sayin...david garrards corpse is gonna be under center...forget about it

Marlon Moore might be a surprise player in Philbin's system.

He's got good speed, quickness, runs decent routes, but his hands are not always the best. But hands are something I always think you can improve.

moores quick but he'll get rerouted with the smallest of touch and his route running leaves a lot to be desired and his hands are inconsistent...no wonder he went undrafted...

he could fit this system i guess but i wouldn't count on anything from wallace or moore...we need to get better production and talent at wr in the draft...and i don't mean chris owusu or posey or mcnutt...

The Philbin/Sherman offense is going to spread tha ball around at everyone. Even if we had Brandon Marshall, I doubt he would have 80-90 catches. It may even be one of the reasons we traded him. So no, I dont think we have a Victor Cruz or a Miles Austin on our team. Our WRs will not be in the top tier statistically.

Well yes, Jerry Rice did run crisp routes and have probably the best hands EVER for a NFL WR.

This is a couple of reasons why Brandon Marshall would not make it in a WCO. He HIMSELF said that he does not run good routes (he tends to make them up) and he does not have good hands.

And OMG, stop the bull****t about Marshall soaking up double coverages. I had all the games taped, it did not happen near as much as people keep thinking it did. Revis never had help nor did a lot of others. I think partly this was because he had no real speed and was never a threat to take one 80 yards if someone missed a tackle. Just because both safeties were deep does not mean that "Marshall was doubled covered".

I'm sure if you ask most coaches we play against they would tell you that they would have no problem with Marshall getting 10-12 catches as long as we lost the game. In that great game where he had 21 catches they LOST THE GAME.

I'm old enough to remember OJ Simpson running for 200 yards a game against the Dolphins but almost never scoring a touchdown.

answer to the ops question and thread title is no...we do not have anything close to either one of those guys in the building at wr...not even close

please lord let edmund gates be ready to give us production this year...he's the only in house real high end wr talent we have on this roster...

Since the trade of Marshall, the FO has been adamant that each move has been thoroughly planned and executed. That we can't see the big picture yet, but it's slowly coming to fruition.

This leaves me to wonder: do they plan to make WR a top priority in the draft? I don't believe we'll use the #8 on a receiver, but Green Bay made a hobby out of using 2nd round picks on receiver (Jennings, Nelson, Cobb).

Or perhaps, could we have a pro-bowl WR already on the team? We've heard over the last couple years how talented Wallace, Pruitt, and Moore are and how well they practice. Could it be time one of them steps up big for the Fins, ala Austin or Cruz? Both guys went from practice/preseason stars to pro-bowlers in a very short time.

No we don't have any stud receivers.
