We basically have 2 every down backs on this team...
Ronnie Brown- torn ACL-according to medical history and past NFL players, it takes longer than 12 months to come back
Ricky Williams- honestly, who the heck knows with this guy? Will he play? And if he does play, does he still have "it"? ..Even anything close to "it"?
Lorenzon Booker- change of pace back/3rd down back, no argument there
Patrick Cobbs- I like the kid, but hes completely unproven

So basically we have...
-Ronnie Brown playing at around 75-90%
-Ricky Williams playing anywhere from 0%-upward of 75% of his old self
-Lorenzo Booker- playing 3rd downs and situational downs
-Patrick Cobbs-nothing more than a backup

So what do the Dolphins do? This is a position that everyone seems to ignore this position, but lets be honest, Ronnie cant possibly be 100% even though I hope he shocks the medical world

If Ray Rice is still there when we make our 2B selection I think you have to consider him....but we really have much bigger needs.

If not McFadden then none. If you (BP) feel good enough about the RB position to pass on the best player in the draft then why waste a pick later on a guy who won't ever see the field

If you want to pick up a back in the late rds., here is an intriguing prospect:

Kregg Lumpkin Height: 5-11 | Weight: 226 | 40-Time: 4.64

Strengths:
Very good size and bulk..Runs hard and with power..Does a nice job between the tackles...Solid vision and instincts...Real difficult to being down...Decent hands...Is an above average blocker...Great awareness...Hard worker with solid intangibles.

Weaknesses:
Doesn't have great timed speed or quickness...Not a big play threat...Will struggle to get outside and turn the corner...Not real elusive...Ball security is an issue...He was not very productive and never really carried the load..Has durability concerns.

Notes:
Was always stuck in a rotation and essentially dropped to 3rd on the depth chart as a senior behind Knowshon Moreno and Thomas Brown....Tore his left ACL and missed the 2004 season...Probably profiles as a backup but he has some tools to work with...Might be the type who ends up being a better pro than college player.

I've seen Lumpkin play and he has some potential. A 7th rd. pick or bring in as a FA.

I hope the guys who whined about Booker's PT aren't the same guys who want to draft another guy who won't play until he learns pass protection

i dont think we draft one becuz we have other needs that are much more pressing. but we might pick up an undrafted free agent to challenge booker. i like the idea of lumpkin. he is a banger who rarely gets knocked backwards.

u sign an undrafted rb there will be some

I personally think we have many more problems to take care of... This and LB's are the positions we don't have to worry about!

not this year. way too many needs surpassing this one. this year we will be drafting people to start - not necessarily to provide depth. RB's are a dime a dozen these days - especially with a good line. next year or the year after.

Miami should use both #2 picks to get a RB. Miami doesn't have enough good players at this position. The need strengthen their offense. Go Tuna, go get RB's early and often!!!!
