After watching the Dolphins for about 30 years and witnessing a lot of great players come and go, in recent years it feels like this team just blatantly doesn't care whether they win or lose. I'm not saying all players....but let me explain...

If you watch games with winning teams, you see players get fired up. Whether it's a good play or a bad one they show EMOTION on the field. They wear their hearts on their sleeves.

I'm afraid this team has no passion, no emotion, no desire to win at all costs. Marino had it, Thomas and Taylor had it, Reggie Bush even had it. Who has it now? Jarvis Landry and perhaps Jones and Grimes? But overall look at this team. Watch the body language, the reactions. It's like they don't even care.

I hate to blame Philbin again. But that's on a coach. I like Tannehill, but Id like to see more fire in his eyes. When Jennings dropped that first down catch he just kind of threw his hands on his head like "oh well". How about getting pissed off? Yeah jennings is a vet so you don't pull a Marino and go scream at him....but at least pretend you care.

Football is an emotional sport. If we have players who just don't care we aren't going anywhere. That emotion needs to be shown more on the field. I just don't see it from this group overall.

Football is like any close organization. The players are going to take the demeanor of their leadership.

Totally agree. Look at the Jets with Bowles. I hate to give them credit, but they're playing hard for the guy. When Bowles was interim coach here our players played their hearts out. I wanted to keep him at the time but we didn't. You need a coach your guys are willing to go out and win for....ours isn't one of them.

Exactly, and we're not alone. There are plenty of teams in the NFL with crap leadership, and it shows - look no further than the other teams that haven't been relevant in over a decade and you'll see a lot of the same issues. Being a good coach and being a leader of men are two different things, to be a successful coordinator or assistant you only need the former...to be a successful HC you absolutely need both.

No, and I can't blame them, either. If I were a multi-millionaire that lived in a Miami mansion, and had a bunch of females throwing themselves at me, I wouldn't care about a silly game. Also wouldn't care what a bunch of geeks on a message board think.

You head coach doesn't have to be a fiery cheerleader, but they need to show a pulse.

You'd care if that 'silly game' was your vehicle to the money, the mansion, and the chicks. Once the 'silly game' goes away, so does all the other ****. So you'd best care or lose it all pretty quick.

Bowles couldnt be more dead on the sideline or pressers, makes Philbin look like an energizer bunny.

i thought the tv crew made a great point about good vet leadership in the Jets huddle, they just have strong vets.

Of course they care - you can see it after a win or loss in the demeanor during interviews. You see it after big plays, guys are fired up - and fired up for each other too, not just the individual. I know the loss to jacksonville has fans questioning alot, but i don't see this "not caring" theory having any base in reality from first the two game tapes. Sure there are some players in the NFL who are just there to pick up a check, but i don't see too many of those on this team.

I'd venture to say they care. It's their job and should be their passion. If they don't, get them out.

Good point here...I think you are right in that there is no real investment by a large part of the team as they are so well paid these days it really does not matter win/lose.

Good players focus on playing better, like Grimes and Reshad. Bad players question the scheme like Pouncey and Odrick and this Dline because they cant execute. We got rid of bad vets this offseason but there are still some left on the roster.

i am pretty sure they care if they win or lose. they are a family it seems, and i can see it with them

but i do agree with the fact you do not see the leaders out on the field defensively. there arent any vocal leaders or anyone that has gotten that huddle together, fired up, and raring to go as a unit. Grimes could be the guy that pops into my mind for it... but really you see nobody.

Offensively you see Landry with much energy and fire, you see Tannehill being a leader out there as well. Pouncey at the line is always making calls and doing his job (would like to see more out of him vocally though).

but once again our defense does lack with this completely. we NEED a vocal leader whose presence can bring the unit together as one, on fire.

for the Todd Bowles comment I agree too, he first of all is an amazing defensive coordinator as well, but his defense is very aggressive, very vocal, and together!!! it is different!!!

Players get paid by their production on the field not by how many women are falling at their feet. If they don't care about playing their best and helping their team win , then those contracts will be small and so will their mansion.

Life is good for these cats regardless of whether they win. It's only the fans that care so much about winning.

If you want players that really care about winning, watch college FB. Hard to have pride and passion for your club/town when you could end up on a different one tomorrow.
