Im interested in a few this class, but how high is too high? Anyone willing to use a pick Friday for one? My guess is a 3rd round is too much for most people but I know we need a young backup and I hate taking a flyer every year on a guy from North Pinetree St that no one has ever heard of.

I don't believe Friday is "too high" . . . it all depends on the guy, and how much we like the guy. Personally, I'd wait until day 3.

Just re-sign Pat Devlin. He already knows the system, will be cheap, probably as good or better than any draft alternative.

i agree day 3... but i dont think round 3 or round 4, maybe not round 5 either... so much depth in talent at many positions of need for us this year that we definitely need to go elsewhere and get rounds 3/4.... maybe 5 QB, but i think we could find something there even 6/7 QB wise

also not really needed to draft one... we can find a solid QB in FA to back-up, pretty cheap no doubt.

Pat Devlin finished the season on the Vikings roster. I don't recall when we let him go. If we don't keep Matt Moore (and we shouldn't unless he wants to stay on the cheap) we need to find a backup QB.

Used-up QB's well versed in Kelly's/Lasor system are in short supply just due to Kelly's short years in the league.

I'd target a former Oregon/Eagles washout. A guy who could be functional in the system but not expected to be a starter.

You just made a perfect description of Bryan Bennett from Southeastern Louisiana. If you search for his profile, you will see a lot of good write ups on him. He was a last minute invite to the Senior Bowl, and he impressed the scouts in practices. Bennett transferred from Oregon after losing the QB competition to Mariota.

Fun fact, Bennett was the reason Darron THomas left early as Chip Kelly felt he was gonna win the job, but then Marriota came out of nowhere.

I only believe in drafting a quarterback with starting potential. The only three I see are Winston, Mariota, and Hundley. I wouldn't use a draft pick on any other QB and unless one of them falls to the 4th round, Miami won't take them

No way in hell you take a QB in rnd 3 if you're the Fins. Especially if the rumors of a long term contract are true. 6th or 7nd round is the game you play year in and year out when you have a franchise QB. If you're lucky, you hit on a Romo. Or maybe even a Flynn or Cassel and then sell em for triple what they cost you.

We could find a DL, RB or WR that could start this year in rnd 3. Those are the deepest positions this draft has to offer, hell maybe even a Guard. Backup QB should be taken 6/7 or undrafted especially this year, where the selection is awful.

once again I think if we draft a QB 6/7 round we can squeeze one in, especially if a trade down to obtain and extra pick occurred... but honestly i dont want to take one in the draft. we can find a solid back-up QB in FA cheaply and sign him in. there are options

I haven't spent much time looking at quarterbacks. But if Bret Hundley makes it to the Dolphins pick in R2 I would take him. He is very intriguing and teams need two good quarterbacks in the NFL today. I don't think Matt Moore is a real fit for this offense in that his accuracy is not a strength.

who needs two good qbs?
Green bay? New England? Indy? Denver? Pitt? Seattle?
BC I cant think of a successful team that we even know that backup qb.
