after last year are the hopes for miami set to high this year ?????

We won 9 of 10 games to make the playoffs. None of those teams had a winning a record... Who knows, we kept a good number of players who will be playing in their second year in the system too. Time will tell.

As great as last season was, I think 9-7 might be a touch achievement this season. As great as Chad Pennington was, I don't think the Miami Dolphins can get past the first round of the playoffs until Chad Henne is the QB. I feel like this team could be like the Dolphins of 2000 and 2001...and I hope this post ends up getting buried deep within the depths of FH once I'm proven wrong.

What motivated you to start this thread? I certainly hope you are not basing it on what you are seeing tonight.
I don't think you can determine much of anything with the weather being as bad as it is.

i think you have to set your hopes high before every season....... its kind of depressing going in saying we are going to go 1-15 or 0-16 right?

It is preseason. The highs are too high and the lows are too low. The first three weeks of the season will be a better gauge of where the Dolphins are with this team.

I think with all the success of last year, people are forgetting that we are still rebuilding. I mean we have Allen and Bell but the rest of the secondary is practically new. That doesn't generally bode very well.

I think given our schedule 7-9 is a realistic record for this team. If you think that we are going to be a 10-11 win team and win the division, you may really want to re-think that. I wish would would do that and obviously anything can happen but I don't think that is going to happen.

They certainly need to play better but I fully believe they are capable of it. The thing is this team just isn't very capable of overcoming too many mistakes. I think we will need a near repeat of last season's accomplishment were we led the league in turnover differential. And a few lucky bounces wouldn't hurt either.

It's hard to not come away from this game with a few concerns, but we have to remember that we're still a work in progress. We very well may not make the playoffs this season but I think we're headed in the right direction. Just got to give it some time.

NOOOOO....i think people expected domination and perfect execution which will never be the case in a football game....i think most OBJECTIVE people will look at this game as a set back but with workable problems not doom and gloom.

i think we are capable of far better play but i think till we play a meaningful game we shouldnt have any expectations

I am guilty as charged. I was one of the ones that was expecting us to go out there and own them. I had indeed set my hopes too high. I see that now.
