I'm not thinking we are in as good a position as everybody was saying. We would have to cut a bunch of guys just get under the cap, Brees is going to cost an official TON of cash. Do we have room?

then cut a bunch of guys. QB is the most important player on the team.

The days of being "cost effective" at the QB position must end. We will go nowhere doing that.

If the CBA is extended...then yes...very easily.

If not...then its iffy....

We will. With the cap being 95 million, we are only about 6 million over I believe. So you get rid of Jones and we are under. A few more cuts and we are good. Plus we dont know what Brees wants which could be alot or not as much as we think.

I Want To Say It For The Last Time. Because I Have Been Thinking It Since Dan Left.

We Need To Get A F%$^%$^#$%#$ing Franchise Qb.

Get One Now!!!!!

Best Choice= Brees

Game Over

we're cutting a bunch of turds from last season.......Howard, McIntosh, Seau (not a turd, just old), Traylor and possibly Tebucky are gone after this season, we should have the money to nab him when and if he becomes available on the open market.

Yes. There are a number of contracts on this team that can be easily cut without hurting the team a whole lot.

We're currently $8 million over the projected cap. SO....if we cut:

Safety Tebucky Jones ($6.8 million),
-left tackle Damion McIntosh ($4.48 million)
- cornerback Reggie Howard ($4 million)
- linebacker Junior Seau ($2.92 million)
-------------------------------------------
= Thats $18.2 million in cuts.

Plus create cap room by restructuring contracts of Jason Taylor ($11.3 million) and middle linebacker Zach Thomas ($7.3 million) could help us out.
Still, even that might not be enough for the Dolphins to have enough cap room available to pursue top-tier free agents such as San Diego quarterback Drew Brees and New Orleans center LeCharles Bentley. That could mean the release of 2005 starters such as cornerback Sam Madison ($6.3 million) and quarterback Gus Frerotte ($4.68 million) with the possibility they could be later re-signed to lesser contracts. ala: Finheaven front page.

I'd consider cutting McIntosh a bit risky. True, you can have Alabi and Carey compete for the LT spot, but Carey already lost that job to DMac and Alabi is still a risk. I'm not saying we shouldn't do it, since $4.48M is too much to spend on a guy like DMac, but the prospect makes me a bit nervous.

Ah well, In Saban We Trust.

we will after cuts and after numorous players restructure, we will make sure we get him

If Jimmy Williams, Huff, and Greenway are all gone, we'd definitely go o-line, and we could get a guy that can come in and start right away at #16.

We will get Winston Justice if they are all gone

From what I have heard Miami and detroit are the only teams truley interested. (although I think I heard detroits pres. say he wanted harringtion to be the franchise QB, anyone else?)Now I know that Brees will be expensive but I truley think he will be wilillng to deal with Miami even if Detroit out bids us. He seems more willing to win then adding to his already huge bank account.

Joe Rose this morning on 790 The Ticket says Saban was asked if the Fins would have enough money to acquire someone like Drew Brees and the coach said "yes".
