man im just wondering i know we need a qb but just cause you take a qb in the 1st rd does not guarntee anything.we need to take a lb or ol in the first rd then try and take a qb in the second or third i mean look at brady 6th rd pick for god sake i trust saban i just think we do need a qb for sure just hope we pick the rite one that fits our system or de we look at fa maybe culpepper.

I would take Culpepper. But if we do decide to draft someone, I really hope we pick up a QB in the first round. Cutler would probably be the best possibility because of our possition in the draft.

I would love to get Cutler as well, but I dont wanna reach for him. BPA, unless its like a RB :goof:

Culpepper won't be a free agent. They can't pin the future of their franchise on a 36 year old (or whatever Johnson is), and they aren't in a rebuilding mindset. Also, I believe Culp got a new contract recently, so the cap hit would probably be devastating. Not sure about that though.

I think we need to draft value above need. If there is a QB on the board that we think could be our franchise player for the forseeable future, absolutely draft him. If there is no available QB that we are high on, don't draft one because we need one.

Mueller and Saban can't decide that they have to draft a QB at some point, because they will get burned. In the same breath, I will be very dissapointed if we don't draft a QB on the first day.

Why is everyone so sure Cutler will be drafted around where we pick? First of all we don't know where we will pick. If we win the next 3 games our position could be a lot different than if we lost all three or just 2. Then you have to consider that we still have the combine. Players can fall or improve their draft position drastically based on their combine performance. Last year at this time who predicted Matt Jones to be a first round pick as a wr? Ronnie Brown is another guy who benefited from the combine. It's just too early to tell anything at this point.

No - UNLESS there is a stud QB sitting there when we pick. Otherwise, select the best stud available. We need help in alot of positions.

guys forget about Daunte.

He might be available, but he tore his ACL,MCL,PCL, and other ligaments in his leg. He might not be ready until the regular season.

I don't think there is a better QB prospect than trading our pick for Rivers. Leinhart would be a better pick but he is far from our pick. Vince Young and Brady Quinn would be possibilities but neither showed the consistency that Rivers showed in college. I'm not sure that either would have been drafted over Rivers, both Losman and Roethlisberger had much stronger arms and Rivers is far from being a statue.

I think miami is aquiring/looking into getting young talented qb's pre-draft, so they don't find themselves at a point in the draft where they say, "we need to draft a qb". We got cleo and are looking into printers(who both are young and have some potential); I don't think that either of these guys are the sure cut answer for our qb situation, but at the same time it puts us in a position on draft day where we do have a young developmental type player and won't reach for 1. If the value is there for us and in our front offices mind he is the bpa we should pull the trigger, but like you said if there is no value at the qb position don't get a guy just to get a guy.

I don't think we should trade away picks for 1 player. If the scenario was our 1st rd. pick for rivers straight up i wouldnt mind, but most likely we would have to give more than that and i dont think we should nor do i think saban and mueller would.
