do we WANT to go to the playoffs?

i certainly do NOT.

while anything CAN happen in the playoffs, as they say, this team IS not going to win a superbowl this year. the defense is NOT a shutdown defense-has not been all year. without a shutdown defense our offense has to be able to score more points than the opposing team consistenly - we don't do that.

let's put this year away...start thinking about next season. bring in the players we need to bring in, evaluate the players we have, give opportunities to the guys who've been inactive all year long, develop the crazy ideas we have (wildpat, option plays, wildcat passes, etc) and let's get ready for next year.

i woud rather have a losing season and get a higher draft pick than to squeak into the playoffs and get blown out in the 1st round and end up with a poorer draft choice.


we lost to buffalo. the fact we didn't BLOW THEM away speaks volumes about where we're at as a team.

I guess I dont.... Dont see anything better than a 1st round exit at best. Lets get a good pick in the draft.
 
Yes, I always want to go to the playoffs because if you get in you could get on a roll like Arizona did last year, and possibly win it. I know many fans make the argument that by not getting in we get an earlier draft pick, but I would rather win. I am tired of "rebuilding" every year, and I have waited 35+ years for another Superbowl team in Miami and I don't want to wait another 35 years.

We have to bring in more talent on offense and defense, but I think we have some good players right now. I also think we could use a new offensive coordinator....we always seem to bring in has beens like Dan Henning and Norv Turner, instead of bringing in someone who knows how to run a capable offense. I would love to bring in a guy like Mike Leach of Texas Tech...he is a very innovative coach who knows how to attack other teams no matter what defense they run.

Unless we bottom out, which we wont. Whats the point of not going to the playoffs? Since we're going to end up with a draft pick in the mid-teens if we finish 8-8, why not make the playoffs at 9-7 or 10-6 and get a draft pick in the early 20's? It's not like we're going to get a top 10 pick if we miss the playoffs, we're too average, not bad enough.

I'd still rather get to the playoffs and lose rather than not. At least that way we can argue with other rival fans that the playoffs were attained.
 
I used to think that way..But these days i dont want a high pick..you are forced to pay guys big money for no reason...

History has shown you can find players anywhere...

Late in drafts or even off the streets....

If there are guys there we love we would def move up anyhow..

Making the playoffs is huge for teams...especially for back to back years

We are young anyhow..

We can still get in on a wildcard..We just have to win out...

Gonna be real tuff but can be done
 
I always want to go to the playoffs. Isn't that why we love watching out team?
Isn't that what they play for? A chance to win the SuperBowl????
 
Makes me sick reading this stuff. Not every team that makes the playoffs is really set to make a Super Bowl run. BUT, you WANT to make the playoffs regardless. If you don't make the playoffs, there is NO chance at the Super Bowl because your season is over.

Why would you not want to get in the playoffs? And getting a higher draft pick doesn't mean anything. It doesn't instantly make us a better team. I can't believe I'm reading this stuff.
 
Why would a fan not want to make the playoffs? Evene if you lose you at least get another game and another week of anticipation.
 
yeah because any lousy team can get hot & make it to the super bowl, like the steelers & cardinals last year.

That's another thing. I'm a big baseball fan, and hockey fan too (although the watered down NHL has made me lose my passion a little) but football is my number one. Even when we were 1-15 i dreaded the Sunday's in January and February where i'd be without the Phins. As negative i am towards the team they're my first love. I don't care if we don't have a chance, 17 weeks of football just isn't enough for me. The NFL in general when it ends in February really leaves me with a void until April.
 
The Playoffs are the big show. You always want to be on that stage.
 
So what you are really saying is that you either want to win the super bowl OR go winless to get the 1st pickinthe draft? Because that has worked so well for teams like the Lions, the Browns and KC's of the world...
