It seems lot of people on this web site think pennington is a great qb.One person on this site even said he would not take peyton over him. That crazy homer comment aside what do you think?Keep in mind pennington has only played 16 games in 2 of his 9 seasons in the nfl, granted the first 2 years he played behind vinnie.

These threads need to evolve...

He is OUR QB...OUR Franchise for now and a GOLDEN stop-gap till Henne is ready to go in a few years!

W/O Penny we would not have been where we were last season...plain and simple. :)

Don't really know, dont' really care. One thing I will say is he's the best QB to wear our uni since Marino.

Hey, chill out.Until the season starts we need to drum up something to talk about. He is our best qb since marino but that is not saying much.

compared to the other qb's then no that statement is not saying much.. but penny is more then just "our best qb since marino".. Pennington is the qb that threw for 3,500 yards and led a 1-15 team to a 11-5 record, afc east champions, and a playoff appearance

fiedler wasn't horrible, i know everyone wants to think that, after replacing #13 it's hard, but he won games, a good game manager... but yeah chad is by far the best since

I like CP... wasn't sure at first, but after watching him this season, I'm convinced. Was a little irritated with time management in the Jets game, but I had to remember he had just gotten to the team. He is a really good QB, and is really good for the Dolphins.

I just wish we had A.J. Feely as a backup again:lol::lol::lol: That dude was so pretty:crazy::crazy::crazy:

Nobody has answered the question is he a franchise qb.If so, did you consider him one when he played with the jets?

There are maybe 3 or 4 franchise QB's in the NFL right now. CP is awesome, but not franchise... he is in a role of helping a horrible team rebuild, and helping rear a young QB to possibly become a franchise QB. Just my 2 cents.

Wrong - he never won ****... he just never LOST us games.

If we had CP during those days... with the defensive talent we had... we could have easily made a Superbowl bid or two.

I think 3 of them are in afc, brady, manninig, big ben,I do not think we will fare well against these teams in playoffs with pennington and his limited arm strength.I would also take cutler and rivers over pennington.I think if he is our qb we better have a ravens or bucs defence to have any chance in the playoffs. He is a game manager not a game changer.

To answer your question you'd first have to tell me exactly what you consider a franchise qb. If you think its based purely on being a smart and fundamentally sound qb who can go out and win games then yea he'd be a franchise qb.

To me I think chad is a borderline franchise qb but not considered a true franchis qb. I consider a franchise qb to have all the attributes a qb needs; an arm to make all the throws, savvy in the pocket to avoid the rush, and good decision making, and a great will to win. I dont think chad can make all the throws on the field so its harder to build a team around a guy like him and harder to build a game plan around a guy like that as well.

As good as chad was and he was good and is a guy a like and belive in. Another guy with a good arm who could stretched the field would have opened up our offense a whole lot more including the running game and other intermediate pass plays.

Chad makes up for a his below avg arm with his decision making but to me his arm is still a liability against opening up our running game mainly and not having defenses playing against the long ball does hurt some other aspects of the offense.

When its all said and done he plays well in our offensive scheme and i do love him as our qb but a true franshice qb would have a presence on the field that would strike fear in defenders to play the pass and help the offense open up more than chad does.

Pennington has had horrible luck with injuries but if you look past that he has played at a highlevel through out his career. He is a QB you build a franchise around. It is not his fault he was injured like he was. It was bad luck. If he would of stayed healthy his career would of been remembered much differently and the Jets would not of released him. He is one of the great QB's to of played the game. We were very lucky to get him.
