After seeing how pitiful our secondary is gonna be the whole year(Goodman, Tillman, LEHAN, Hill) don't you wish we would've kept Madison. Yes we all know he isn't what he use to be but he is much better than anyone we have in our secondary, at least he would provide a little stability to our crappy secondary. Its hard to imagine our new "improved" secondary w/o Madison and Schulters would give up huge penalties, huge plays, allow catches on 3rd downs, and plain just do nothing out there.:shakeno:

Our secondary isn't that bad if we weren't trying (and failing) to blitz every down.the sacks we got were coverage sacks and we were only rushing 4 down lineman.

They only blitzed on 3rd down, every play we got burned, we had mulitple defenders in the secondary the Steelers continously made big plays on 3rd and every other down against us, not one good thing came from our secondary:mad:

madison and surtain were getting older. As much as I loved having them on the team, we needed to try and bring in some young guys and let them develope.

In time we will have another strong secondary.

It's gonna be a long season. They exposed our secondary.

I think you are jumping the gun on that assumption.

The Pittsburgh offensive line is top caliber in the NFL. We still got penetration on them and forced them into some sacks and negative yardage plays. I think we will only see bigger and better things from our defense as we approach teams with questionable OL.

Bottom line is we allowed Batch to be too comfortable tonight, and I think it will be addressed come next week at home against Buffalo.

I'd take Will Allen over Sam Madison in a heartbeat. Allen made some great plays tonight. Madison would have gotten torched as bad as any of the guys we have on the roster now because he's not a good zone corner and he has lost the speed and recovery ability that allowed him to gamble in the past. Even when Madison was in his prime he got burned a lot (see the St. Louis 2001 game, KC 2001 game and the Bills 2002 @ Buffalo game).

It's time to move on past Sam Madison. We are starting four new guys in the secondary that have never played together. That takes some time for cohesion. And there wasn't much of a pass rush to speak of so that made their jobs even harder. So before we crucify the four members of the secondary, let's see how they respond the rest of the season, ok???

Goodman showed why the Lions didnt want him.

Goodman is a good nickel corner. He was exposed last night because we generated NO pass rush. I don't care who is back there, if a QB has all day to throw, it doesn't matter if Deion Sanders in his prime is starting for you.

That doesnt change all of the mistakes he made tonight. Im not only talking about getting beat in coverage.

See...the problem is...that we FinFans have been very spoiled for so many years with Surtain and Madison...these two corners were probably the best tandem in the NFL at the time. These guys were GREAT cover corners...well those days are OVER...LONG GONE my friends. I think the current secondary needs to believe and execute Saban's scheme to be successful...see the focus and emphasis is on the scheme...not the players anymore. I guess what I'm trying to say is...we don't need corners that had the ability that Surtain and Madison had...we need corners to just do their job and make the right reads in Saban's scheme...if they can do this...they will be successful and good enought to win games.

Yeah...I miss Surtain and Madison...those two in my eyes will always be Miami Dolphins!!!

I remember the year that Miami won the AFC East...I think it was 2000/2001 season it was Wanny's first year as head coach...well that Defense was unreal that season...IMO that was the BEST Dolphins Defense I had ever seen play to this day...you couldn't run or pass on them...they were BAD as hell.

Go Fins!!!

Obviously, there was a blown coverage on the Miller TD. But, the secondary wasn't that bad. The big problem was a total lack of a pass rush. That forced our guys to have to cover for too long.
