Tannehill is an anomaly. He's not a obvious bust like Geno or EJ. He's not an obvious answer like Luck and in his 3rd year, does anyone really know what he is? The only other QB I can think of in a similar situation is Foles who is hot and cold and still not sure if he is the answer in Philly, but Foles has shown the potential of a higher ceiling, just not sure if that is a product of their offensive system or his ability.

Do the Fins pick up RT's 5th year option this offseason or wait out the 4th year and decide before he goes into FA? If they do give him the 5th year option, he gets paid the average of the top 10 highest paid QB's salary from the previous year, which is a significant chunk of money to still evaluate where he is at (Foles was not a top 10 pick, so his 5th year option is much cheaper). He would be making elite QB money and the Fins may still not know if he is the answer. I can't think of a QB in the past where you went 3-4 years and still did not have a definite feel on where to go with him.

I don't know much about the cap and all that, but from a football development standpoint I would. You can't forget his limited time at qb in college which kind of puts him behind from a developmental standpoint. We are seeing a clear improvement now he is out of Sherman's Techmo Bowl offense that literally told the defense what we were doing. If this year ends with this continued improvement I say go for it. Let's bet on him.

I would just wait him out and see what he does the rest of this year and then into next. I don't get why teams reward QB's who have done nothing....look at the Bears ponying up all that money for Cutler....I like Tanny more than Cutler....Cutler always has that poopy face. Hopefully Tanny will earn a nice contract.

We have to.

Even if he shows no improvement, hes still better than anything we could sign this offseason and a drafted QB outside the top 10 may need time to develop.

Unless there's a better alternative, yes. But in no way in hell am I even thinking of negotiating an extension.

Tannehills cap hit next year is 4 million. Even if you despise him find a qb with familiarity to the system that you can sign for a on year 4million dollar deal. Don't be a freaking moron.

i'd cut him after this year.

So offer up an alternative solution. Who should they pursue this off season? I hear Mark Sanchez is the best available QB. Should they take a flyer on him? Trade the future to move up for Winston? Can you offer any insight other than cut him?
