I didn't know he was from Pahokee, Fl. He even played ball at Clewiston High School. So did that possibly factor into the signing?

I really think it's hard to know. We don't know why the FO selected him of all the FA CB's to sign. I don't think we can determine if being a Florida native had any influence on his discision or not, I think chances are it helped, but we don't know that for sure.

To be honest I think he signed with us because we were the only people that wanted him.

But that's pretty cool he played in Clewiston, I used to go there a lot when I was younger, I've got some family there.

I think we signed him because BP wanted to sign him. I do believe the guy is a lot better than given credit. And with a another young corner threw the draft we will be just fine in our secondary.

I also just remembered Boldin is from Pahokee too. I think we signed him so he can leverage Boldin into coming....

Just kidding, although we will see that thread pop up in the future.

Of course it was a factor. If one of the few teams that was looking at signing you was near where you grew up vs. somewhere you have no ties to, wouldn't you rather want to go back home? I'm betting the FO used this as a key piece to not only get him signed, but signed to a reasonable contract. Also, we have no idea what his role is going to be. They can say whatever they want right now, because they don't want to tip their draft hand. So he may very well be "competing" for the starting CB role, but maybe with another 1-2 drafted CB's that we don't want everyone to know about.
