I know that Sam has came out and said that he isn't going to restructure his contract with the Fins. Personally I dont like that out of a player, but I can somewhat agree why he wouldnt. He is the question though. What do you think that he is going to get going somewhere else? We all know around here he is on a decline. We are not going to be able to trade him so we are going to have to release him. Is he really going to be able to go somewhere else and get much more money that what the fins are willing to restructure for? Maybe I'm crazy but I dont see him getting much more. Thoughts?

I don't think Saban wants him. Nick would probably like to see someone more physical and a sure tackler

My whole possition on Madison is this... if there's a better option out there than Sam coming training camp and the beginning of the season, then Saban should take it.... otherwise I hope he restructures... cutting him all together like some people post would be godaweful for our secondary...

Minus Sam, we win 6 games this year.

We shouldn't even be considering restructuring his contract. He hasn't done anything special this year and there will be some great CBs out there in the draft and FA we can go after.

We may be left with no choice but to cut him outright. If another team knows that we don't want him and he won't restructure with us, and they know he'll be released why trade anything for him? The only benefit for trading for him would be to take other teams out of the running for him, like the Chiefs did with Surtain.

Deion was still pretty darn good when he was Sam's age. I just think Sam has a couple of good years left in the tank. Anybody have his salary number for next season?

I agree, however I think that Sam would feel disrespected that he was forced to restructure and thus play for a different team for the same money that we would have restructured. I would like to have him around for one more season but I don't see it happening.

I honestly think Sam will end up sticking around. I think all his talk lately is just posturing. He's a smart biz man in this regard. But I think he wants to win and he'd have to be an idiot to not see what's in store for this team over the next three years or so. I think he'll restructure and be on board at some point by June.

Sam really picked it up toward the end of the year. I think he finally got on board after trying to wing it most of the season. Dude is drinking the Saban Kool Aid as someone once said. His tackling was substantially better toward the end of the season - he was almost tackling with an attitude, actually.

Be careful what you wish for, all you who hope Sam is sent packing ...

The reason that he said that he wouldn't restructure is because he was asked to do that prior to last year and was told that the money that was saved would then go towards signing Surtain to an extension. But, the money was never used for that. So, Sam feels that he was slighted by the organization, and doesn't feel like he should do it again (for the organization).

Based on what he's said and how I believe Saban feels about him, I think he's gone. I hope that we can get something for him though.

I don't believe that Sam can go out there and get the kind of money he thinks he deserves. Saying that, I think he will restructure.
