With Ryan getting hit so much and taken down, he might just get shell shocked like Carr did. It takes someone with a powerful constitution to put up with what is going on to him behind the LOS.

David Carr just wasn't very good. He actually got better after his rookie year and continued to improve a bit throughout his career.

Randall Cunningham and Aaron Rodgers both got crushed behind porous lines their first years starting and turned out OK.

I'm more worried about his physical health, not his mental toughness. If he's gonna fold up because of this, he was gonna find a reason to fold up anyway.

No....Cunningham was sacked 70 times in something like 11-12 games and survived...

Tannehill is physically tougher then I thought...I always believed he had the mental toughness...The line could also improve limiting the number of times he get hit the rest of the season...either way he will be fine...at least mentally

Right...I'm not worried about his mental toughness, he doesn't seem to get discouraged, he always seems to keep on truckin' and actually keeps everyone else focused, too.
I am worried he is going to get injured. I don't know the % of injuries per sacks taken, but it eerily seems like a matter of time before he gets hurt if things aren't corrected quick.
It only takes one sack...we're lucky Tanne's held up pretty well this long!

I thought they were going to bring out the stretcher after the Mario Williams hit....

Carr's best season was his 3rd year in which he had 3,500 yards and 16 TDs.

Tannehill is on pace to have 4,000+ yards and 20+ TDs this year.

Carr was not very good. Tannehill has shown he has skills. Mental mistakes will happen but will hopefully happen less often as he grows. Remember, this is essentially his 3rd year of playing QB competitively. Similar to a college Junior who started for his team as a Freshman from an experience perspective. Tannehill just had his somphmore and junior year against much better competition.

Problem I see in Tannehill are that he lacks "touch" on middle throws, lacks "accuracy" on long throws, he stares at the receiver too much and he does not have a good pocket awareness. I guess if not fixed, this will result in LOTS of picks, sacks, and wasted opportunities on OPEN WR's. He will improve, but how much? We don't know, and to be honest I doubt he will make the required leap to be a solid starter in the NFL. Right know I see at best an Andy Dalton/Jay Cutler type of QB which might nolt be bad.

Poll needs to be redone accurately: Thread Poll question of "Next David Carr" is in direct conflict with the actual poll question within the thread "will he survive the onslaught." Based on past polls, people usually click in to answer yes or no often ignoring the internal question assuming it's consistent with the thread title. So if you don't think he'll be the next david carr, you'd vote "No" which is inconsistent with the question posed within the poll. I know, a little wordy while multi tasking but you get the gist.

My recommendation is to reword the poll and start anew if you want legitimate consensus

David Carr was the combination of a sucky QB and a crappy line. I think we just have the sucky line.

Remember, this is essentially his 3rd year of playing QB competitively.

I find this amazing. What's more fascinating is the fact that some of our fans are already giving up on him. For a guy with such limited experience at the QB position I think he's doing pretty well. Especially when you consider he's been playing behind a crappy OL and a very limited running game.

Not saying we shouldn't criticize Ryan when he makes dumb mistakes or plays inconsistently, but we need to give him time to develop. He has all the tools, he just needs to gain more experience, imo. I know our fanbase is sick of being patient, but I think this time we might have to be if we want to finally have our franchise QB.

I thought the question was Do you think Tannehill is going to be the next David Carr, so I voted no...didn't realize the question on the poll was different than the title of the post. I think he will survive this and become a very good QB.

What is the actual objective evidence available that David Carr's plight in the NFL was due more to his being sacked as much as he was than to his own ineptitude as a player?

I just don't understand why people do selective extrapolation. 4000 yards + and 20TDs + sound good but if you do that take the bad as well. Based on an extrapolation Tannehill would also have 21INTs and 12 lost fumbles accounting for 33 turnovers.

I just don't get it.:rolleyes2:

I think that David Carr was just an overrated QB and went wayyyyyy to high in the draft. But he is one typical example that a high draft ranking never equals - by default - franchise QB material.

Carr, in my opinion, was the Chad Henne Beta Version even without the sacks.

2002 was a very weak QB class. Joey Harrington at #3? Remember him?

Stop making excuses. He is not David Carr, who gives 2 craps about David Carr. Tannehill needs to stop turning the Ball over like he did 3 times on Sunday, and the Dolphins would have Won. That's what it is all about, if we won the game like we should have, we would not be talking about David Carr.
