Dolphins' Jay Feely: Not Much of a Union Rep

http://sports.aol.com/fanhouse/2007/06/30/dolphins-jay-feely-not-much-of-a-union-rep/

Nothing new in the story, but if you read the comments following the story, a person claiming to be Jay Feely chimes in. It almost seems legit, what do you think?

Happened to get a google alert and saw this post. This is Jay Feely, kicker (and union rep.) for the dolphins. As happens many times, people in the media right something without the benefit of having the complete story. Since Michael David Smith made no attempt to contact me first before writing his blog about me, let me correct all of the errors it contained.
I resent the implication that I am aloof in my duties as a player representative. It is you who is aloof to the duties of your profession when you formulate an opinion without doing the due diligence to try and discover the reality before you submit an article!
Jay Feely

Just one comment.

If it is, you would think he would know that how to spell Write:lol:

:sidelol: I wasn't going to say anything about that. It reminds me of an adjective that Peyton Manning's used to describe his kicker. Then again, it is a common mistake like your and you're that he could have overlooked when typing.

I believe it is Jay...as many of you might know, he was on Cold Pizza many times last year, and was a very well spoken guy. One typo doesn't preclude with me the relevant material in his comments.

who cares if he can spell as long as he can kick :D

I don't care, unless your coming out on public record with a statement then it's meaningless to me. Anyone can write anything they want with the power of amonimity. I consider this the same because if anyone questioned it he could simply say it wasnt him. So unless he comes out in the media and publicly confirms that then its not worth giving it merit.

Same goes for cryptkeepers thread about unamed players not happy with new admin. Maybe they are maybe they arnt. Unless specific names are named and specific quotes are used I give them no creedence.

Ah the voice of reason!

I don't know it is the real Feely or not but he is right about one thing. The situation between the Dolphins and Culpepper is in a gray area.

Depending on how this plays out, it might force the NFL to return to the June 1st cuts in the future.

What has changed with the June 1st cuts?? As far as I am aware the rules are the same as they always have been with the exception that up to 2 players can be cut prior to the beginning of free agency and the "june 1st" salary cap benefits can still be applied to those players.

The reason no significant cuts happen any longer is that teams have become better at managing the cap, and don't usually NEED immediate releif as they did in the past, and teams do not often give older players contracts that they can not live up to and will significantly impact their ability to sign other players.
