Do any of you think we have a power struggle already taking place between Philbin and Ireland? I do! Flynn comes in for a visit first which tells me this is philbins guy! He walks away saying I am not playing under this bozo GM. now we turn our attention to Alex smith who is the guy Ireland wanted all along! And now we are going to overpay for this guy on top of it. Jesus this team is killing me!

Based on what?

Just want to throw some crap at the wall and see if it sticks?

I was wondering the same thing OP...Philbin better win out. I am sure he will if this season goes south.

Philbin for GM next year. He has my vote. Lets low ball our number one choice and high ball the second choice. Great GM philosophy there. If Smith gets signed and does not produce, then goodbye GM.

The assumption a lot of you are making is, Philbin thought Flynn is a starting caliber QB. Do you know that?

The facts imply to me, in fact the opposite is true. The conspiracy stuff is just silly. Then again, there are still ppl that think more than one person killed JFK.

I don't believe we have a power struggle at all. What we have here, is a lousy GM and a moron as our owner.

No.

There is no evidence to support that. not even circumstantial really... For all we know they both may want some QB in the draft and its all a game of getting other teams to sign a QB so they can clear a path to the QB they want.. But I have no evidince to support that either so I wouldn't start a thread about it.

On the outside it looks as though Ireland is setting Philbin and the Dolphins up for failure.

Ive been saying this for awhile that there could be a struggle between Ross and Philbin. Ross loves the big name players and coaches. Ross also said that he tired of bringing in backs ups and disguising them as starters and thats exactly what Matt Flynn is/was. Read this article and let me know if it sounds like Ross would be ok with paying Flynn 3 year 26 million contract. http://www.miamiherald.com/2011/10/17/2457616/miami-dolphins-a-franchise-in.html

I wonder if Philbin really thought highly of Flynn but Ross may have told him only if we can get him cheap. I hope Ross isnt turning into Jerry Jones/Al Davis. And some people may say that Philbin wouldnt have taken the job if he didnt have complete control or say of who he brings in. Thats not necessarily true, head coaches agree to that all the time. Like I mentioned earlier Jerry Jones and Al Davis have/had a lot of say in football operations and they were still able to hire head coaches.

And furthermore, no one knows what was discussed prior to this free agent frenzy period. Its not like all this was decided upon after free agency started. I think they hatched out a plan with priorities well in advance knowing the direction they want to go.

You guys think this stuff wasn't discussed when Joe took the job? Come on.

Maybe Ireland is really one of those 99% ppl, and has found his inner hippie and is doing everything to sabotage the Miami Dolphins, because they are owned by one of those filthy 1% ppl, Ross.

I figured it out!
