Offense #1 (Pennington, Ronnie Brown, Ted Ginn, Greg Camarillo, Davone Bess) focuses on practicing the standard offense.

Offense #2 (Pat White, Ricky Williams, Patrick Turner, Brian Hartline) focuses on practicing the wildcat offense.

And then during the game, the Dolphins just alternate between Offense #1 and Offense #2 for different possessions. And if one offense is doing better against a certain team, then we shift more possessions towards that offense.

Having players specialize that way might make it easier for our receivers & QBs to get their timing down.

And opposing teams will have a difficult time preparing for two such radically different offenses in the same game.

Do you think we'll end up running two separate, alternating offenses this way?

It's an interesting idea, and I do agree teams would have to plan for "two offenses," but that's also part of the problem. They'd have a good gameplan for whichever personnel package you send out there. Part of the success of the wildcat comes from the offense being able to break the huddle and the defense having literally 10 or less seconds to make adjustments. If the same personnel can run base offense or Wildcat, it puts a lot more pressure on the D than gameplanning for two offensive styles would.

Defenses have to gameplan against different offensive styles all the time (maybe not as radically different as Wildcat and base), and marrying certain players to certain offenses gives defenses a chance, IMHO.

odds are at least 2 of the 3 rookies will bust. besides, you can't put so much inexperience in pressure situations and expect anything approaching flawless execution.
