I really like Mike Wallace, but unfortunately I'm going to vote "NO". I just don't think he is consistently better than Brandon Marshall or Dwayne Bowe, both of whom are getting paid about the same as Mike Wallace is expected to earn. I realize he is a game changer with speed that kills, but taking into consideration, he will need to learn a new offense that is notoriously hard to learn, I'd much rather spend multiple draft picks on WR's who will get paid much less and are bit younger. I think it would be better served IF Miami were to sign Jennings at a more reasonable contract, who already knows the system, in spite of his age and late injury history.

I agree, let's sign Jennings to a friendlier contract. He's the better WR for us anyway, IMO.

I may be in the minority but I would still prefer to see this :idk:

Wallace would be an exciting addition but man is it a bad year to be desperate for a wide receiver.

I would bet money we are targeting jennings if anybody is up for it. Its the only thing that makes sense, all we did was sign stop gap WRs last year, the FO must have known this years WR class would be weak (and therefore bloody expensive), Philbin probably knew Jennings would be available, we definitely need a veteren WR on the roster, he's cheaper, etc, etc.

And if getting THEIR WR this offseason was the plan all along there is no way they could have known Wallace would even be available.

It all adds up to Jennings for me.

I think Jennings should not get more then 4 years 30M contract. If he wants more then that then go after Wallace.

I'll pass. His isn't worth the money he would command. I would rather draft w QB.

I have been a Jennings supporter, but mostly for a few reasons. One, he is Philbin guy. Two, he knows the offense, Three, he will not cost as much. Finally, his skill set I think matches RT's. However, I have also said that I love Wallace's age and he is much more of a match up threat that Jennings. I have to admit as well that snagging Wallace is pretty exciting.

It will be a lot of money, but not much of a issue for another few years. Keep building the offense and allow RT to evolve over time.

TOTALLY SHOCKING, that 66% of voters would endorse paying Wallace twice what he is worth. HOF? Seriously?

Yet in reading through the posts, written by those willing to stand by and explain their opinion, at least 66% think it is a bad idea; logic prevails.

Speak up Kool-Aid drinkers!

Wallace got most of his stats because of Rapistberger avoiding sacks and getting open late on broken plays, or defenders falling asleep. Dog knows he didn't help their terrible running game.
If we don't use the money to fix the O-Line the QBs will not have time to throw it deep anyway.

Paying Wallace 12M is insane and I would have to take back all of the nice things I have said about Ireland improving by learning on the job each year.

Preposterous!

Not going to disagree with your writeup, but I will say this, the 34% that don't Wallace at that price will be the same ones complaining if he goes somewhere else and tears it up. It will be because Ireland was too cheap and the market in 2014 FA will be even worse for lesser products.

I hate to say it but if Vincent Jackson is making 11M per year with the Bucs and with prices going up every year, 12M per year for Wallace may be the price tag. Whether the Dolphins are the team paying him is the question. IMO if its not the Dolphins then some other team will be paying that price.

If our goal is give Tannehill all the weapons he needs then it is a good idea to sign Wallace. Why? We have a #2 Hartline (great WC offense WR who works the middle and edges of the field), We have our slot guy in Bess. Where we are lacking is a big body possession type WR and a blow the top off a defense WR. Look at FAs available and the draft and no where is there a guy who can effectively run the 9 route and who can contribute right away. Patterson is more of a Jennings type which might fill the possession role for this year until he develops. Wallace is the only option of a guy who is fast and can run the 9 route DEMANDING a defense to use a safety over him which frees up the other WRs and the running game. If Tannehill is to grow even more this year he needs the best available options to support him rather than relying on unproven WRs or draft pick WRs which usually take time to develop. That being said I do hope the Dolphins get him and if we overpay then we do. It's Free Agency and you almost always pay more especially when you're targeting the top FA available.

Voted "I guess so," because Mike Wallace would instantly upgrade our offense and we have the cash to bring him in.

But I would still prefer to see Miami bring in Greg Jennings if he can be had at a good rate. I think he's a better fit, and when healthy, simply a better player.
