Nice deal for both teams. Devil Rays get younger and better, specially with Navarro. Dodgers get a quality back end of the rotation guy in hendrickson.

The Dodgers have acquired left-hander Mark Hendrickson and catcher Toby Hall from the Devil Rays for right-hander Jae Seo, catcher Dioner Navarro and a player to be named, FOXSports.com has learned.

Hendrickson, 4-8 with a 3.81 ERA, joins a rotation that has featured only two consistent starters, right-handers Derek Lowe and Brad Penny. Hall gives the team protection in the event of an injury to rookie Russell Martin or veteran backup Sandy Alomar Jr.

"He's a great fifth starter," a scout says of Hendrickson, 32, who is 6 foot 9, 230 pounds. "He's durable. He's tall. He's very deceptive. Guys get bad swings on him. His stuff isn't great, but at the end of the day you look up and say, "He's not that bad."

Seo, 2-4 with a 5.78 ERA, was dropped from the Dodgers' rotation in May and has been pitching out of the bullpen. The Devil Rays could keep Seo  he is not be eligible for arbitration until after this season  or spin him to another club.
The Mets have shown interest in re-acquiring Seo, 29, whom they traded to the Dodgers along with reliever Tim Hamulack last January for relievers Duaner Sanchez and Steve Schmoll.

Good trade for both teams in my opinion. Navarro is a nice young catching prospect but hasn't played much due to injuries. LAD get Hall who will help out the pitching staff and LAD young catcher Martin. The swap of pitchers, I'm not a big Seo fan but hey maybe a change will be good from him, although the AL line ups might eat him alive. Hendrickson is a FA after the year I believe so why not try to get a young pitcher back.

Hes not a FA after this year, but arbitration eligable, and with him having a career year was going to get a big pay raise most likely. and Seo was very successful as a starter in NY, so hopefully hes just having a down 1st half.

Oh ok I thought I heard on the radio he was a FA.

Anymore rumors down in Tampa with the Rays? I'm guessing Lugo and Huff will be gone soon too.

well theres rumors of carl crawford, but not in tampa. Tampa has already said they arent going to trade crawford unless a proposal knocked their socks off.

the only other rumor ive heard was Huff to detriot, for what i dont really know. But Huff is destroying the ball right now, after hitting under .200 the entire season. hes hitting over 500 and has his average up to .242. which is great with his value sky rocketing.

I heard Ken Rosenthol from FOX Sports say that Crawford won't be a D-Ray by the end of the year. I was surprised to hear that, if I were Tampa Bay I'd keep Crawford and deal Baldelli instead.

trust me, Crawford isnt going anywhere. heres what our GM has to say about it. Also, i have heard rumors about Huff to Yankees as well.

Several teams have called the Devil Rays about Carl Crawford, but he will not be traded during the season. "We'll evaluate where we are at the end of the season," says Andrew Friedman.

Decent trade. I don't think any of these players will be season changers for either team. I do kind of question getting Toby Hall back. Russel Martin catches close to everyday and EVEYRONE raves about how he handles the staff and calls a game. He isn't going to learn too much from Hall I don't think.

Plus, Sandy Alomar Jr. is the backup and has done well in that role. Unless he plans on retiring, their is no room for Hall. Me thinks something else is brewing with my Dodgers. Perhaps for another pitcher on that other Florida team?

well i think Hall is better throwing catcher than both. and would be a perfect backup for a team making a run

the dodgers need to trade with the angels to get jeff weaver back, have the angels pay most of his salary and give up some double a hitter

o did anyone catch the last few dodgers/diamondbacks games? it's been a bean ball fest and Nomar has taken it like a champ
