Just wanted to know if any one knew when the baseball season started not that im in a hurry for it to start because my Reds are just gonna suck again.

Opening day is April 3rd. Although there probably will be a ESPN Sunday night game the night before, so April 2nd is the first game of the year.

My Dodgers should be an interesting watch. They will either odminate their weak divison, or everyone will get injured and it will be a disaster. Either way, it should be something worthwhile for me to talk about at work!

Potential Dodger Lineup (barring injury)

CF: Kenny Lofton
SS: Rafael Furcal
2B: Jeff Kent
RF: J.D. Drew
1B: Nomar Garciaparra
3B: Bill Mueller
LF: Jayson Werth
C: Dionner Navarro/Sandy Alomar Jr./Russ Martin
P: Brad Penny

The pitching staff should be as follows

SP:
Brad Penny
Derek Lowe
Odalis Perez
Brett Tomko
Jae Seo

RP:
Danny Baez
Eric Gagne
Yhency Brazoban
Lance Carter
Jonathan Broxton
D.J. Houlton
Hong-Chih Kuo

They probably open with 12 pitchers and trade away if someone becomes injured or more power is needed in the lineup. Looks decent on paper but a lot of those guys are injury prone so who knows.

Teams usually only open up with 10 or 11 pitchers because there are so many off days at the beginning of the year.

Also, I think Furcal will lead off with Lofton batting 2nd.

Team looks good...LF and C are the only parts of your offense I'd be worried about...besides that...DAMN

I'm excited about my Mets this year...

1B - Carlos Delgado
2B - Kaz Matsui
3B - David Wright
SS - Jose Reyes
C - Paul Lo Duca
LF - Cliff Floyd
CF - Carlos Beltran
RF - Xavier Nady

SP - Pedro Martinez
SP - Tom Glavine
SP - Steve Trachsel
SP - Victor Zambrano
SP - Aaron Heilman

Closer - Billy Wagner

Heilman's probably going to end up in the pen, at which time he and the team will be at odds and they'll trade him. Just a prediction. That rotation is lacking. Pedro is Pedro, fine. Glavine is declining. Trachsel and Zambrano don't do anything for anybody. Matsui stinks, Reyes and Floyd need to stay healthy, and Beltran needs to prove he is a NY-type of player.

And keep an eye on Delgado. If he isn't happy, he can formally request a trade after this season and force the Mets to oblige. Same thing Javy Vazquez did to ARZ.

If ATM-Omar and the Mets don't make the playoffs this year, the owners are gonna run his *** out of town!

Acually, I am not worried at all about the Catcher's spot. Traditionally, you odn't need a big bat there, it is much more of a defensive position which, Navarro excels at. However, Navarro showed a knack for the clutch hit late last year and has a little pop. On top of that he is extremely young, as is Russ Martin. One of those two will probably get traded to help shore up another position later. LF is a question mark though. Werth has tons of power but a huge hole in his swing and whenever he gets rolling, he gets injured.

That may be true, but it hasn't been the case in year's past with L.A. I haven't looked at the schedule yet though, so they may have every Monday off or something like that. They also have 16 pitchers on their 40 man roster, most with quite a bit of MLB experience. The youngsters have a chance of making it as well due to their live arms.

L.A. has a tons of hot prospects coming up through the system (Andy LaRoche, Joel Guzman, Matt Kemp, Delwyn Young) but aren't ready yet. They have a glut of pitchers that will help them at the deadline. They will try and showcase as many as they can. Plus, Grady Little is their manager now, you better give him as many options for his starter's as you possibly can.

Hey I love the Dodgers chances this year at making the playoffs (hopefully they all stay healthy because there are huge ? marks with almost every position player). But if the Dodgers chances depend on Grady Little you're screwed

He's a great clubhouse manager, he keeps the players happy and helps with the chemistry. But his in game managing is crap. Trust me you'll be yelling and screaming at the TV in April when he takes out Jeff Kent when he's on 2nd base in the 7th inning when the Dodgers are up 1 to 0 and no outs just so he can put a speedy guy on base for an insurance run.

Hopefully Grady will learn to go to the pen, since the Dodgers have a pretty good pen if Gagne is healthy.

I think Grady gets a bad rap. I know about the whole Pedro thing but I think Pedro really threw him under the bus to deflect the blame from his bad pitching to Grady and bad managing. Pedro is no boyscout. Remember, he throws at people's heads and throws old men to the ground. I think he also eats babies and blows up school buses.

If he takes Kent out at all (excluding injury of course) then you can bet I will be yelling. Kent was the only consistent threat last year. Hopefully, Drew, Nomar and Mueller can help add to that and win some games without relying on Kent alone. I still think another trade might be in the works.

As a Red Sox fan, trust me when I say that Grady was awful even before the Pedro thing. Like I said he's great in the clubhouse but awful as an in game manager. Little made a lot of mistakes in his 2 years with the Red Sox and I'm not even counting the Pedro/Game 7. I wanted Little fired even before the playoffs. He makes you want to break the TV with his moves.

Example: If Jeremy Giambi didn't get hurt for the year, David Ortiz never would have played and became a monster. If Shea Hillenbrand never got traded Little never would have let Bill Mueller play and win a batting title. Ortiz and Mueller were killing the ball early in the year but he never played them because he stuck with guys like Giambi and Hillenbrand because they were the bigger names.

He's also awful at managing pitching and the bullpen as well as late game decisions such as pinch runners and bunting. He will pinch run for Kent, Nomar and any other big bat/low speed guy on the team as he did with Manny and Ortiz in 2002 and 2003. Also don't be shocked if he benches Kent sometimes if Derek Lowe pitches. Remember Little benched a very hot Todd Walker in the 2003 playoffs for Damian Jackson when Lowe pitched because he's a ground ball pitcher.

I'll be rooting for the Dodgers in the West this year, I'm just warning you as a Dodger fan. If you're not on heart meds before the season you might want to look into them because Grady will give you a couple this year (some even before the games start  ).

I was upset when NY traded Navaro because Posada isnt getting younger
But we got Randy so hopefully he can give us a WS.
