our undersized LB's like Moore, Pope, and ZT. In fact, I could see Pope and Moore either getting cut or waived during TC not because they can't play, but because they don't fit the mold of a Saban LB. Zach won't get cut this year because of all he's meant to this franchise but I don't think he'll be back next year.

If they are good players, I don't think that Saban would let them go just because of their size.

Good football are players are good football players, no matter what the system is.

It's Saban's job to find out how to best utillize their talents.

I just hope he cuts Thomas and Taylor sooner rather than later...HUH? Well, yeah, they are two of my favorite Phoins as well, but with salary cap issues and better and youger talent, they are very much replaceable....ON THE FIELD!!!

i don't think you can just get rid of a player like Zach Thomas because of his size. Over the past 5 or more years he has been in the top 5 linebackers year in and year out. He is seldom injured, or atleast injured enough to sit out. He is the heart of this team. That would be like a new Offensive Coordinator coming to the Colts and getting rid of Peyton Manning cuz he wants a mobile quarterback. it is something you can't do.

yeah this will be the last year for moore, pope and probably bua as well. david bowens will probably be shown the door too. i think they'll remain through this season for depth, and i think the smart thing to do is get them some playing time to where they are atleast salvageable as trade bait for more 2nd day picks.

Oh, he won't get replaced right now...but he will and you will hate Nick for a few days, maybe weeks, maybe even months, but when you see the end product, you will say: why didn't he do it earlier. Saban is the hert of the defense NOW...NOt JT not ZT...SABAN!!! And he will get new and better leaders on the field

Saban has made many references about the kind of players he wants. He has stressed tall and beefy LB's over undersized and quick. That was JJ's and Wanny's system. If you remember, when JJ came here he let some big-time players go either released or didn't offer them a contract because they didn't fit into his system (Cox and Coleman come to mind as guys we didn't give a FA contract to).

You can't compare the 2. The reason Zach is so good in our system is because he's instictive and our scheme calls for the DT's to take plug up the middle to allow ZT to make the tackle without having to shed many or any blocks downfield by an OL. If Saban doesn't prescribe to this philosophy, Zach may find himself at a disadvantage. I love the guy and what he's done ( I love the guy enough to have an email account where my handle is dolphins54) but this may it for ZT if Saban doesn't think he could be the MLB in his system.

Well based on football age I believe Zach and JT will be 30. I'm sure as in running backs, these two start slowing down. Don't get me wrong, these two have been awesome with us, it's just the nature of the business, to be young and fast.

IMO if ZT again has 100+ tackles and stays healthy and his performance can justify his $$$, Saban isn't going to let go of him. The only way he's going to let a playmaker go is if he gets too expensive. Surtain, for instance. The only reason Pat is gone is $$.

The salary cap is what will keep the Dolphins from getting rid of Zach or Jason before 2007 at the earliest and more than likely 2008. Both are signed through 2009.

I do think you will see Saban transition from the smaller guys like Derrick Pope, Eddie Moore, and Brendan Ayanbadejo to bigger guys. That's why it is possible that players like Lionel Turner, George Lewis, and perhaps Derek Curry may have a shot at making the team.

Why would you ever get rid of Pope and Moore? Pope is playing for next to nothing and was solid in a STARTING role. He's an EXCELLENT back-up. Eddie Moore on a pretty low salary too, and also played well in starting time.

These guys deserve to at least be on the roster.

I would have to agree. I do think that Eddie Moore and Pope are going to have good NFL careers for other teams. There will always be teams that will be looking for speed
