the nfl had a 12 round draft / well i was reading a dolphins media guide today and durring the 70's and maybe the early 80's . anyways the dolphins used to draft runningbacks almost every year. i know we have Ricky and Ronnie but it would not be a sin if we could draft a fast and shifty runningback at least one every 3 years i think it would protect us from having to depend on guys like minor and morris.
we even used to draft a qb at least once in four years. but the fascinating thing is Don Shula used to draft 40% skill players to 60 % linemen and he would draft as many as 3 wrs and 3 rbs in some drafts at least early on .
how would you guys feel about having a 12 round draft ? i know it would be great and the media wouldnt like it but who cares what they like.

Going back to the 12 round draft would be great. 7 rounds is just too short.

I wish it would go back to that 12 round draft...why not? No point in shortening it back then anyways....

The first year I knew about the NFL Draft (1974), there were 17 rounds.

Can you imagine if they still had a 12 round draft. It takes 2 days to do a 7 rounder, it might take a week to do a 12 round. Did they have 15 minutes between picks back then? I can't recall. I think it's ridiculous you get 15 minutes between picks in the 1st round.

Yeah, it was 15 minutes in the 1st and 10 minutes for the second. Each subsequent round was 5 minutes. The drafting process started at 7am and went on until 11pm or so. It was extremely exhausting for almost everyone involved.

And

How did you follow the draf in those days?, no internet, no tv coverage, how in the word, did you new about the picks in that kind of draf? GO DOLPHINS!!:( :dolphins:

Ps. I started to be a fan in 1987, but started to follow the draf(kind off) in 1993.

You either had to wait for the nightly news to report who was drafted by whom and when or read about it the next day in newspapers.

Give us 10 rounds and eliminate Comp picks. I believe it would increase the need and assessment on player evaluations. The increase in the PS number of players can offset the 3 round increase. Also, a real relationship with either NFL Europe Canadien football or the AFL can provide a developmental line (player allocations = ex. you get 5-7 a year to disperse to other leagues for development) and career security for players.
