I really think we do.If Jake Long pulls though. We got a solid O-Line,but is it a Top 10..Thoughts

I think we have the best Oline in the game as of right now. 3 probowlers will be from the dolphins Oline. You play to win the game!!!!

I hate to say this bro,but i think the Jets do..

I think we should be top ten as long as Jake Long is as good as advertised. With another year of learning, Satele should be comfortable making the calls pre-snap, which is something I'm pretty sure Hadnot handled from the guard position last year. Carey shifts back to right tackle, where he played at a pro-bowl level two years ago. Smiley is an above average guard provided he can stay healthy. The RG position is still up in the air, but with 4/5 of the line stocked with above average linemen, I think we're looking pretty good for the first time in a while.

Our Oline will be fine as long as Ronnie is raking up yardage.....but, If Beck should ever get in the game the line will magically start to be the worst in the league. At least thats how it happened last year. If you dont believe me ask any one of about 300 people around here.

I don't think we'll have one of the top 10 OL's this season, but next season I think it's a distinct possibility. This year we'll have 2 rookies playing, and although I have a lot of faith in Jake, I think he'll be even better next year after adjusting to the new system, faster competition, and learns the chemistry of his linemates. Smiley also has a bit of adjusting to do regarding system, position, and teammates. But, I think it's the other rookie guard that is going to have a rough first season, and should really benefit from a full year's experience and offseason and help us become a very good OL in 2009.

Plus, Satele is still a young center, and I think he will continue to grow into a pro-bowl caliber center.

I'm pretty sure you knock on Beck in every single one of your posts...no matter how irrelevant it is. Start your own website forum exclusively for John Beck haters because I'm sick of hearing from you around here.

haha geeze you never have anything good to say.

I agree with Digital. It's way too early to be proclaiming any unit in the top 10 when you have 2 rookies and a 2nd year starter on it..

But we have laid a nice foundation and the future certainly looks alot brighter for the O-line than I can remember ever since Webb and Sims were drafted in the same year.

You noticed that too, huh?

Very good summary. In fact, when I'm visiting this site late at night and sampling a few threads, I seem to be impressed with Digital's posts on a regular basis.

Here's the problem: There's more of a burden to Top 10 OL or "one of the best in the league" than is generally acknowledged. It's natural for fans of a lowly team to finally detect a personnel uptick and overstate it's comparative potential, at least short term. That will be true of my Canes and Dolphins in '08.

I still go back to late last season when the Bills mauled us in the trenches from the opening quarter, then the Giants waltzed in there and rushed for 200+ yards to easily overcome a 14-0 deficit. When we're capable of that, I'll listen to Top 10.

Here's what I love about the OL: No more drooling over Hudson Houck. It's like he was a convenient booster chair the past few years. No matter how inferior our trenches talent would look, posters here and other Dolphin sites would deny and deflect, based on Hudson Houck. I've been pleasantly noting his deserved absence from every OL thread, although I guess I just ended that.

I think we will have a top 10 line in another year. I think Smiley and Long may be pro bowlers this year and Carey and Satale possibly in future.
We still have a big question at one guard spot and our depth is pretty weak. I think the Jets will have a better line this season for sure. I think by next year we will easily have a very good line to protect Chad Henne and hopefully a deeper set of receivers.

maybe towards the end of the season. we're very young along the OL which will probably mean a rough start. but as the season progresses and these guys get used to working with one another we should be fine.
