Anyone in here feel like Saban got caught up in the hype of how we finished last season heading on into 2006 where the Super Bowl is to be played in our own backyard?

Sometimes I wonder if he abandoned his "master plan" in order to patchwork a season to get us into the SB here in Miami. Almost like he made the mistake alot of newer coaches do - he tried to short cut it.

Wow? That is really a frightening question. Because I do wonder it myself as well. (See us Dolphins fans have the same blood aqua and coral) Scary huh?

No.....The ones who got caught up in all the hype created by the media, are 99.9% of the Miami fans around the world....And now that the blinders are coming off, we see that we are not the Superbowl team they said we were..We are not the division champs they said we were....Nor are we as good a football team as they said we were.....Expectations got so high, and now everyone wants heads to roll....:rolleyes2

have you ever listened to Saban talk? he is the most grounded...level headed...critical coach i see. Dolphins could play a perfect game and on Monday...he is pointing out how this guy didnt block that guy....and thats why the play died.
He hates the media...he hates addressing them everday...during summer camp...he hates Monday press conferences....and I am sure he hates reading what they write...which negates him getting caught up in hype. I dont believe he does.

going as far as saying he believed the hype..not really due to the fact he is part of that hype now i dont think that has anything to do with the fact that he might actually have tried to buy this season and team a superbowl victory.
I think that might have happened in this scenario.

no..but i thoughthe would be able to control it with the players...but you cant blame hype on the oline issues or playcalling....maybe playcalling cause it could give mike the feeling like he could do anything he wanted....

what shortcuts did nick take

I don't see Saban being caught up in media hype, however he may be guilty of trying to bring a SB team to S. Florida, dirty S.O.B.!

It's possible, but the good news is that if he did it won't happen again. One thing I do believe, is that Saban thought the Oline would be just good enough to get the Phins to the playoffs. I think the play of the Oline has come as a surprise to everyone....no one thought they would be this bad.

If that were the case, don't you think he'd have a healthy QB out there playing instead of one that, even according to him, needs to get back up to speed and is not 100%?

I think, it's the fans who got too caught up in results, and forgot about sticking to the process.

If anything you could speculate that Saban doesn't "hype it up enough". His intense, angry, and vague with the oress. Talks in generalizations never commits to anything. And so far this team is a reflection of his persona, no emotion, excitement, or urgency. Yeah, he gets angry when he sees a player screw up, but if that's all he does then players retreat and play scared. I think that's what we're seeing so far.

I agree totally about the O-line. Its totally unacceptable the way they are playing and I bet Saban is miffed as to how this is happening.

Coordinator and line coach are probably getting an ear full in their meetings.

We just don't get to hear it.

all im saying nick saban never had a losing season, and i think he is working on that before he works on worrying about hype

FINSTRADOMUS: yes!! i said he was all hype and believed it BEFORE
he coached his first game here. i did not want him as our coach
and i REALLY didnt like it and knew it spelled doom when wayne
gave him the GM job with it.

"short cutted the team" you say? he flat out gutted it!!!

he completely dismantled a team that was was showing
chemistry and promise, then toped it off with a horrific
draft and bogus free agents.

the REAL nick has reared his ugly head. and unfortunately,
there are far to many cultists worshiping him for wayne
to make any kind of move in the near future.

prepare for 5+ years of hell folks!!!!!!

I've listen to everything that Saban says at his press conferences and on his show and to me it seems he says the same mumbo jumbo, every week. Now i like Saban and i don't want to see him go. But it might just be my old age but it just seems like he says the same thing to me every week. He seems to also have the press to scared to ask some questions that should be asked.
