I know he has played both DE and NT in a 3-4, which is part of the reason he was brought in. He played a bunch of games last year at NT when Haynesworth was hurt (I think).

Anyways, do you think the front office is grooming him to take over at NT? With Ferguson getting old, and injuries starting this will def be a big need for us in the offseason. I am trying to figure out if we will need to fix this spot via draft/FA or if Starks could be the man there. God knows we have plenty of other positions to fill on D before next yr.

Starks has good quickness and can contribute some at the nose but I am not sure he has the pure strength and leverage that we would want from a full time NT.

I also look for us to be drafting a really strong NT in the next year or two. That's not to say Starks cannot rotate in there as well.

I think Starks made the case AGAINST being our NT with his play on Sunday.

He was incredibly weak. I think he's great in the rotation. A fantastic DE in the 3-4. But he got owned all day against the Ravens O-Line.

If he can put on another 30-40 pounds, that would be a different story.

As it currently stands, Paul Soliai has more of a shot.

No. He is a good 4-3 DT and a good 3-4 DE, but unless they spend a lot of time with him working on techniques and bulking up, then he is no NT.

He's a role player... starks can be a 3-4 DE barring injuries, he's out there on our 4-2 nickel personnel and he's getting snaps at NT on what seems to be a 3-3-5 nickel package .... while not having qualities of a starting NT in a 3-4, he's a highly valuable asset for our defence, mainly in the pass rush department

Starks could be a decent NT but he is looking like a stud DE or DT. Keep him where he is at.

i think so...he had that one sick tackle for a loss which impressed me

Starks has been our most consistent D-lineman all year so far.... he's been making some plays and i want all the people who said he was a bad signing to step up.
