Does anyone think that David Lee will be our O.C. next season? Henning is pretty old and really seems like a temporary fix to me. I think that there is a good possibility of Lee becoming our O.C. Any thoughts?

Completely with you on this V.

Henning was basically retired and came back for his buddy BP. He gets to hold down the fort while the young guy gets acclimated, and in a sense gets an interview for a year. It even makes sense that they are really soliciting Lee for plays and getting him involved slowly.

It's not a sure thing of course, but I definitely was considering that while procrastinating at work today.

You took the tought right out of my mind. If Lee input into the offense keeps working Miami, we raise him next year to OC. You also dont need another QB coach and Henning could go back to retirement. Actually Sparano and Lee were the ones who plugged in theformations and worked on them, make me wonder if Tony has some what stripped Henning from OC call duties. Im not trying to start anything and it is merely speculation, but maybe just maybe Sparano is calling plays for Miami.

I was thinking about this earlier today after I watched Tony S's presser. You are right on in this line of thinking. IMO Henning is going to groom Lee as the O Coord.

I recall watching a Sparano presser and the question came up about who's offense it was, Henning's or Tony's and the answer was "mine."

well,if more innovative play calling like what happened sunday continues to happen and it works good for us,it might not be a bad idea...

heh so we turn to a college guy because of 6 plays? I loe reading some of the stuff people on here right,. Gives me a good laugh after dinner ahahaha

I just thought that it was pretty interesting that a QB coach was given so much of a hand in the plays. That combined with the fact that Tuna pretty much talked Henning out of retirement leads me to believe that it is a possibility.

I am pretty sure the plan that the team wanted to do was have Henning be the OC for a season or two(most likely two) and than turn the OC job over to Karl Dorrell. I like the trick plays David Lee brought with him, but is he really ready to control the entire Offense? Not so sure.

I don't remember if that was the plan, or something one of the gurus mentioned as a possibility and we all turned into a fact.

I could see the playcalling turned over to Lee, Dorrell, or Saxon (our RB coach).

The thing to remember about Lee though is that he was set to be the Ole Miss OC and was the Arkansas OC under Houston Nutt, and then decided to become our QB coach.

Coaching is a team effort like playing. It's the OC's job to bring these ideas together and form the game plan. Our QB coach was the first coach hired by BP. Even before the head coach. He was brought in b/c he has the reputation for being able to take young QBs from point A to point B (form one level to the next). That is extremely important to the team right now. I just don't see that happening next year while Chad Henne and John Beck are still developing. Maybe in two years, just not now.

It's called speculation :err:. I don't recall the OP or any of those in agreement ever overstating the case. It's part of the fun.

Lee was an OC 4 times in college, and has been coaching quarterbacks for approximately 30 years http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Lee_(quarterback)

i think he was brought in to slowly but surely take over the OC position, Henning is not a long term answer, creative and brilliant coordinators are the new trend in the NFL and coach lee offers just that , henning is a conservative old fart
