After going 8-8 on what should have been a 10-6 season does anyone thing we legitimately got worse at any position this year? In my opinion offensive line is much improved with Albert, James, and even Smith looked nice against Dallas. Wide Receivers are much improved with the addition of Landry and getting Gib back from injury. Getting Moreno to go with Miller vastly improves our running Backs. Hopefully Lazor will improve Tannehill and the offense in general. D-line is arguably a wash depending if you think Big Paul was a better fit than Mitchell. Linebacker is a wash, I believe Finnegan is an upgrade as Patterson couldn't stay on the field, and Delmas and Clemons are both pretty average.... one can hit and one can cover. My point is do you think we did enough to get those extra two to three wins to put us over the top? Thoughts?

I'd say weaker at CB, Safety,. and DT. We have alot of old injury prone veterans that took over. Time will tell!?!

How can you say cb got worse. Against NE we only had one left at the end of the game. As long as they stay health it is an upgrade. Clemons never made a splashy play ever, and paul at dt was out of position classic 3-4 scheme not 4-3.

besides Finnegan, would you mind to chime in who the OLD and INJURY prone guys are ?

I don't think we got any worse at any position, although we may be treading water furiously at some (like LB and possibly safety at least until Jones is back). The real question to me is how much better we got RELATIVE to every other team in the league and their improvements/regressions/etc, since no team exists in a vacuum and everything is relative compared with the 31 other contenders. Honestly I don't know, guess we'll see soon enough

Good thread. We really haven't gotten worse at any position and not many teams can say that one year to the next. Yeah losing Soliai is a hit, but we mitigated it well and had enough depth to cover the position.

I would say we are a much deeper team at almost every position. Hickey has brought in competition for all the positions.

Certainly cornerback. Patterson hardly played at all but still totaled as many INT's as some recent Dolphins DB's totaled in two years. That's a factor. Nolan Carroll was also very solid, and it's a shame people couldn't give him credit for developing into a good player because he was at one time a rookie who didn't look like he belonged on an NFL field. While I'm allowing the possibility that I'll be surprised, I'm not that high on Finnegan at this point in his career. Jimmy Wilson, while he was the weak link as the nickel back last year, was still a pretty good guy for the worst in your secondary. I think on many more plays this year we are gonna have a guy who doesn't get his job done in the secondary.

We should be fine in this area with what we have, but certainly Soliai gave us a stronger D-line last year.

LOL!! at the notion that we didn't get worse at any position. You could debate we got worse at RG, S, CB, DT, and C considering we will be missing Pouncey for a while.

Agree that we are better at WR and RB

RG really? John Jerry.... that is all I have to say about that. DT.... maybe. I agree with center, however, we will get Pouncey back. I'd take Delmas over Clemons. I've never seen Clemons make a legitimate game changing play. It was time for a change.

Safety and CB are huge question marks. DT, Paul Soliai was a heck of a player. Remains to be seen of Mitchell being better for the defense Coyle wants to run will offset that. Obviously got worse at C in the short term.

We got much better at OT, better at RB, and deeper at WR. We may have gotten better at G but far too soon to tell.

Our offensive line improvement alone makes us a much better team than last year. I think we all underestimate just how bad it was last year. We literally changed it entirely.

2 years ago I thought Colombo was bad, then we had Clabo, then we had Jonathan Martin and John Jerry. its been so bad lol but with Albert and James we surely will be improved.

I honestly think we didn't get worse anywhere. Upgrades everywhere and we got players who seem like they're out there to compete each and every down.
