That we should trade down for more picks and maybe wait till next year to draft a qb so that we can give daunte another chance? And if that doesnt work out we can draft a qb and bring him into a stronger team with less holes in it. ionno if im right or not but shouldnt next years draft have more depth in the qb position?

Next year's draft has Brian Brohm, Chad Henne, Colt Brennan, John David Booty, Erik Ainge and Sam Keller.

If we were to wait till next year, I'd still want a dependable QB should Daunte fail again this season. So, if we don't get a QB on the 1st day, I sure hope it would be our first position looked at on day 2.

Trading down may be an option, depending on what players are available.

I thik Harrongton should be let go (no one trades for him now) and Cleo is second strong, meaning we need to draft a QB in round two,

That said, I would like to move UP as far as our #9 pick, plus our third round pick, plus a player (maybe booker?) can move us.... maybe up to #5 or so??? I do this ONLY if Joe Thomas slides that far. We NEED a franchise LT... he will make Daunte TWICE the QB he is by buying him time since Daunte can;t do that anymore with his legs.

Drafting a great LT will improve our QB situation, AND our run game.

If a first and third rounder aren;t enough to move up, or Joe is gone.. then I stand pat and get the best dude at number nine... maybe BRady Quinn drops, or Ginn is there.

Yes, and we should trade our older a overpaid offensive skill position players and obtain even more draft picks. Preferably packaged to get 2nd round draft picks. 2nd rounders get a fourth of what 1st rounders get in bonus money and a lot of times turn out better than the 1st rounders.

Trade Rex Hadnot and draft Samson Satele.

I'd love to trade down, but the chances of that happening are usually slim unless one of the top guys slides.

Don't forget about Andre Woodson out of Kentucky...he was 2nd team All SEC this year and had better stats than all those guys except Brennan. He was rated higher than Quinn coming out of high school so he has always had the ability to make the throws but this past year he put it all together to turn around the UK program. Also has that leadership and moxie at the end of games...led three 4th quarter comebacks this year. I want him in Miami

IMO, trading up or down is always an aggressive move and as the old cheer goes, "Be aggressive - Got to be aggressive!"

Let's go out and make our future instead of sitting around hoping it falls upon our lap.

Cam has almost 2 months to figure out whether DC is going to make it back or not ... so he should be able to make a call on 'where' to draft a QB - if at all this year

An assessment MUST be made, as we can't just 'hope' that DC will be good to go this season. Either he is - or he isn't and we move on.

He looked very good against UF this year and is a very intriguing prospect. I'm anxiously awaiting this kid's senior season and subsequent arrival on the national radar.

Very solid QB.

You raise a very interesting question. Is there really a definite way to know whether or not Daunte will be healthy before the draft? Probably not, but that'd pretty much determine what we'd do on day 1. All things considered, Brady Quinn, though I think he could do great things here, most likely isn't going to be here unless we trade up to get him...I know I know the Matt Leinart thing could happen.

But if we don't move up for Quinn, I really think we at least need to look at Drew Stanton, Trent Edwards or Jordan Palmer in rounds 2-4, to at least get some youth in there. I'm far more intrigued about the possible class of LT's coming out next year. There's obviously Jake Long and Sam Baker, Barry Richardson of Clemson will be there, and possibly Jared Gaither coming out of Maryland. I'd much rather get a QB this year for Cam to start molding while Daunte/Cleo are starting, so that if either of them doesn't pan out, which I'm going to bank on until I see Daunte on the field running around in the regular season like he did in 2004 (I'll eat my crow for that I'm sure), we'll have some insurance and a year of experience under that drafted QB's belt.

I'd much rather get a year of tuteledge in a QB now, rather than waiting until next year, and if DC or Cleo doesn't pan out - we're right back to where we are now, one year later. And the odds of getting a franchise tackle next year are more likely given we'll have to trade up really really high for Joe Thomas, and I think 3 of the 4 next year are better prospects than Levi Brown this year.

So, get a QB via the draft this year just simply to gain the experience of the routine a la Carson Palmer or Phil Rivers primarily since he sat 2 years behind Brees. That'd be the dream scenario is letting a QB sit a few years behind Daunte or Cleo, and then you have a good problem on your hands at the QB spot rather than waiting an additional year and upping the risk of being in the same spot we're in at the moment, pending what happnes to DC. Fineas had a pretty good thread about Damion McIntosh being our LT again for another year, which I'd be alright with. He's not the best against speed rushers, but he holds his own. I'd like to have he and Alabi battle it out this year, and pick a stud next year.
