While not exactly the same situation, its similar enough to discuss it. Will Brady sit so long, he becomes like Drew Henson who never ever lived up to his promise. Does anyone waste a 1st pick on him in a couple of years to get him out of Cleveland ?

I'm not seeing the similarity between the two

All depends on preseason and his brief chances to play. Brady looked great in preseason after holding out so I think over time he may still have great value.
If i had been Baltimore I would have offered my 8th pick head up for him and see what happens.

Drew Henson left football and went to baseball. He was playing a completely different sport. At least Brady Quinn is practicing and playing the same sport in the system he may eventually play in.

Brady Quinn has much more in common with Philip Rivers.

drew henson is still a football player..he played both baseball and football at michigan and then was drafted in the MLB draft however he quit playing baseball after a couple of games and then went on to play football..

but i don't see a similarity between them..brady quinn will have more chances to show his ability..however i think quinn will be traded this season..some discussed this earlier..if he can't beat out anderson in camp or plays not so good he will be gone because the browns don't need 2 pricey QBs..

but imo henson can still be a solid QB if somebody gives him a chance..as i saw him playing for the rhein fire he did very well..

If you notice, I said he left football meaning that he played football.

There is basically no similarity between him and Brady Quinn. Drew Henson COMPLETELY left football for several years. He NEVER practiced football with a team for several years.

If Brady Quinn is going to be compared to any highly rated QB lately it would be Philip Rivers. He was a highly rated QB and competed for the starting job in training camp. He lost out to Drew Brees who had an all star season.

Both were highly rated QB. Both lost to the veteran QB on the team. Going into their second season there was still a QB controversy.

I just don't see how Drew Henson can be compared to Brady Quinn in any way.

I'm not positive on this but Quinn and Rivers held out basically eliminating there chances of starting. Had they been to camp on time they may have been the starter regardless. Derek Anderson was very mediocre the 2nd half of last season. If Cleveland gets off to a slow start and Anderson isn't playing well people may start calling for Quinn. Especially if he has an impressive preseason.

It's one thing to be out of football completely and another to be a backup. Many people believe rookie Qb's shouldn't start.

I just meant it from the fact that Quinn may sit long enough that he is like Hensen in the fact that he just withers away and his skills erode from not using them enough.

Can we stop the bash Quinn threads? We are one draft beyond this already.

For those who hate this kid, you sure know how to find any way to bring him back to Fin discussions all the time.

philip rivers sat.(behind brees). matt shaub sat.(behind vick) Aaron rodges is finally getting his chance. delhomme was a backup, so was hasselbeck. and marc bulger.

these are the qb's you should compare to for the "sitting on the bench: deteiroating or developing?"
