Over the past year, various "experts" (Cote, LeBetard, Fat Hank, the national guys, etc.) have commented on QBs to target this offseason. You know the names...

The knock on Brees, besides the height, seems to be that his arm isn't strong enough and doesn't throw the deep well enough to fit our offense. Being that I'm in south FL and I watch all the Dolphins games anyway, I can count on one hand the amount of games I've seen him play. Does he fit our offense? Please explain why or why not.

He seemed to get to a probowl with not much problem. I'd be fine with us refining the Offense to reflect his strengths.

Because of his arm strength, he certainly doesn't fit the offense as well as someone like Culpepper, but I still think he'd be a big improvement over Frerotte.

I saw him play a couple of times and must say he always seem to complete 30-50 yard passes to mccardell. I just can't see San Diego letting this guy go, well lets hope they do and we get him.

Brees is a much more accurate passer than Frerotte. His arm is not as strong on the deep balls, but the receivers we have are better suited to an intermediate passing game with a lot of slants and crosses where receivers can catch the ball in stride and gain yards after catch.

I think CHambers is better suited for the deep ball. I dont watch him much, except when we play the Fins or the Fins are on TV, but I never really see Chambers do much after the catch. Thats not a knock against the guy, I just always thought Chambers was a huge deep threat and average at the shorter routes.

Any offense can be tweaked to fit the QB. In everyone's mind, we are still running Linehan's offense. Granted, we may still use alot of the same terminology and some of the exact plays, but this is the Miami Dolphins offense. This offense will be ran by Mularkey and Saban. Linehan is gone. There are literally hundreds and hundreds of PASS plays that are in these playbooks and are used in the NFL. There is no question Brees fits in the offense. Here are the questions that should be asked: Is Brees accurate? Can he make all the throws required by an NFL QB? Does he kill himself with mistakes? The question isn't can he play in our offense. The question is CAN HE play the QB position effectively. The answer is YES.

Very well said....I agree 100%

Well let's see...hmmmm...Coach Hud was the one who fixed the Chargers OL and help DB become a better qb...uhm, yeah...I'd say he can fit, since The Hud's still here!

LT = ronnie B
Mcmike = Gates

well thats all i got, but yeah i think it could work very well

even though saban has his type of players for each position, i think it's safe to say he's flexible enough to take players that don't fit the mold, as long as it's good for the team. otherwise he wouldn't be a good coach. brees doesn't fit the "saban mold" but he's a good decision-maker and can throw the long ball when necessary.

I agree with ronnie, but mcmike is nothing like gates... nothing.

and someone else said chambers is more suited for the deep ball... I also disagree with this completely. Chambers does not come back and fight for the ball. Any ball that chambers is running straight down the field when trying to catch it has to be thrown well. Now if he is turning in, out or crossing whether its deep or not is where chambers is affective.

Well, the Chargers used more of a short passing type offense... mainly because Brees doesnt have the arm to throw the bombs... Culpepper fits our offense better (it was designed around him in Minny)... however, both would be freakin awesome to have.

If we ended up getting Brees... I would see us adapting our offense and use more of the short passing game.
