Can he reject a trade?

If not, ship his dancing butt to Cincy for Chad Johnson. :woot:

i dont believe football players get no trade clauses in their deals because unlike the other sports they are not guaranteed their contracts

In a way he does. All he has to do is threaten to retire if they try to trade somewhere he does not want to play.

are very rare in the nfl, pretty sure he doesn't have one.

yea he can reject a trade if he doesnt show up to anything for that team or he can just say he wont play for the team he gets traded to

Ya, but wouldn't that be the whole Ricky Williams situation all over again for whoever he's traded to?

I would rather trade him for picks. We are rebuilding and as good as I think Chad Johnson would be, I would rather replace JT with a Draft Pick. Lets get young!

While he doesn't have a "no-trade" clause, many of these trades are a deal where the player has to re-do their contract with the new team and the trade is conditional until that player does that. All he has to do is not agree to sign with the new team (the way the Jets player, Ferguson I think, did). I think we would be making sure JT was ok with any trade team we'd be talking to or making sure they didn't want him to re-do his deal. With that said, I think there are only a limited number of possibilities to deal him, if at all. We also may need to consider what's been brought up in another thread. We may go into the season with JT on our roster and then trade him mid-season to a contender who needs a DE to put them over the top. Kind of what we did with Chambers last year. I don't think we would have received a 2nd round pick for him before the draft, but we got a 2nd during the season because SD felt they needed a play-maker to help them in the playoffs. Same thing may happen this year with JT.
