I know everyone has been debating the other 2 rookie offensive linemen (Satele & Mormino) and whether there going to start, but what about Julius Wilson at RT. I'm not completly sold on Shelton at that position at all and I like what I hear about Wilson as a run blocker, which is what you need at the RT position. Granted he's a little inexperienced and needs to work on his pass protection a bit, but I think he has the potential to be just as good, if not better then Shelton. What do you guys think?

He won't start, heck, he probably won't even make the final cut. Maybe a PS player this year at best.

No way he unseats Shelton. I think Shelton should have a pretty good year.

Remember that when Cameron started two rookies on the OL in San Diego, they were Nick Hartwick at Center, and Shane Olivea at Right Tackle.

We'll see. Not heard much at mini camp but that's not surprising about any OL.

Good question especially if Shelton or Veron were to go down. Toledo and Alliabi the top 2 tackle backups are almost as unproven as Wilson and are injury prone. Wilson was the top or 1 of our top 2 rookie FA signings. I think Houck is going to try and hide Wilson on the practice squad myself but we are very very thin at the tackle position. Here is what I see Wilson will not start unless we have injuries to one of our starters but he will make the squad in place of Toledo who will either be cut or placed on IR. Alliabi is "almost" in the same boat as Toledo but does manage to stay on the bench nicked up instead of rehabbing in the training room with Toledo. If you were a rookie FA OL and wanted to make a team this year the Dolphins would be a great place to land. I believe that is why Esera and Wilson both signed FA rookie contract this year. Wilson was the highest rated FA rookie tackle available and Esera was the second highest FA rookie guard avavilable. Esera also played tackle not guard in college FYI. These 2 rookie FA pickups along the FA rookie DE Bruce signing have an opportunity to contribute this year.

No chance, barr4ing many injuries ahread of him. And I watched some footage and he seems to have plodding feet/heavy on his feet.

You really can't know anything about an OL like Wilson or any of the other guys, until the pads come on.

Because he's a slow, powerful plodder that has played 3 years at RT and it would make no more sense suddenly moving him to guard than it would suddenly moving Red Hadnot to tackle.

we should play a plodder at RT?

ok

anyone want to answer?

should we put the inferior athletes on the edge?

Anyone in the NFL isn't an inferior athlete first off....they are still some of the best in the world.

Second of all right tackles aren't known for being amazing pass blockers, though some are and it's a plus for sure. If he shows to be an average pass blocker and a great run blocken then I'd play him to get experience.

I think the phins would be happy for one of the young guys to unseat Shelton and use him as a swing between RG and RT as a backup. That would be idea until we sort our depth, or acquire more.
