In another forum under the thread, Article about trading Jason Taylor, Peter King writes Matt Ryan's agent hasen't spoken to a soul who believes Parcells will draft Ryan with the first pick. If that's true Miami will have a tough time trading out of the 1st pick. Everybody knows BP likes to deal. My question is this: Does anyone think BP would draft Matt Ryan to try to force a trade with another team? 3 teams in the top 10 are on the market for QBs, Atlanta, KC, and Baltimore. To try this would take serious stones. Is BP this kind of gambler? What do you think?

I think the closer we get to the draft...we'll find out who really has interest in Ryan...and who doesn't.

The three key players in this draft are Ryan, McFadden and J. Long....those three will draw the most interest from needy teams.

5 years ago, maybe. Nowadays, it's just not worth it. There are very few people interested in having to pay 30 million dollars for a guy who might end up weighing 300 pounds a couple of months after the season ends. The financial responsibility coupled with the fact that the #1 overall pick in the draft means you have a crappy team - a bust destroys what little credibility you already have with fans and hits the team with a hefty paycheck for dead weight. You bet wrong on the guy that anyone is willing to move up for (if any exist at all) and that's your ***. I don't think anyone in the NFL is willing to do that.

I don't think there really is anyone that is going to trade up for J. Long, maybe Chris Long, but even that I don't hear of anyone. The two main players that teams may trade up for are Ryan, and McFadden.

Unfortunately because most of the NFL know that Miami is interested in one of the players with the last name Long, it is going to be very tough to trade, unless a team get very desperate, and starts a bidding war for Miami's #1.

I most certainly can see the tuna trying to trade out of the pick, but i seriously doubt he would take Ryan and try and force a trade with another team unless he would seriously be content in keeping him (which i doubt he is). We all know the tuna is a defensive guy and if he has to invest all that money into one guy its gonna be a defensive player with a never ending motor, a high IQ, and a genuine love for football ... and thats Chris Long.

I agree if BP is not a gambler then the first pick will be Chris Long.

That's the thing. If Parcells was really hellbent on trading out of the pick, wouldn't he be saying that he absolutely intends on drafting Matt Ryan if they pick 1rst? Either Ryan or McFadden, because those are really the only two players teams would be interested to trade up for.

The fact that he hasn't makes me think Parcells might do exactly what you suggest.

Teams that need a tackle will look hard at J. Long....he's the only Tackle thats ready to play the first day....that isn't a pick on potential.

I don't really think he needs to. All he has to do is convince either the Falcons that KC and/or Baltimore might be moving up to get Ryan, or KC and/or Baltimore that if they don't move up, the Falcons might take him.

If he drafts Ryan and Want to trade him right away without already having a Deal in place that would be stupid

If he doesn't want him and we draft him, then the best offer is a 2 round pick or better yet there are zero offers. Now what ?
It will take a teams fear that another team will move up to take a certain player to kickstart any trade talk. No matter what Mayock and other media want to force down our throats nobody really knows if these other teams even have Ryan as their 1st choice. They could easily see value in drafting C.Long/DMAC/V.Gholston in the 1st and Brohm/Flacco/Henne in the second like alot of us do on this board.

your absolutely right ....it's like they won the lottery. all the hard work can be over, if they want it to be. but i don't think you would get that with chris long he wants to make a name for him-self

I have no doubt in Jake, I think he will become a very good linemen, but with all the talent at O-linemen, in the top 10 I really do not see anyone that will be willing to move up to #1 to get him...too expensive, and for teams outside the top 10, it will become even more expensive.
