Besides injuries and stuff. I'm wondering if the Dolphins due to there tough schedule trade Pennington before the deadline and just start to to phase Henne into the becoming the starting Qb. I know Henne starts in 2010 but if Pennington starts out bad it may be good to trade his expiring contract to a team for either a draft pick or young players. His value is pretty high right now i wonder how high it will be before the deadline. Opinions

Pennington, because of his age, doesn't have good trade value.

Henne, on the other hand, may have significant value to the right team.

In fact, the Lions(same state where Henne played his college ball) need a young QB.

If pennington starts out bad who is going to trade for him? If pennington starts out good who is going to bench him? The answer to both questions is no1.

He will play the whole season unless he stinks it up on the field then theu will give Henne a shot.
I think letting Henne sit one more year will be good for him to learn. Then in 2010 Let him go into camp as our starter.

history says no. but im betting that sparano will bi*ch smack history and he will. j/k. who knows?

What are you suggesting, a possible three way trade involving Miami, Detroit, and Denver? If not, I am.

We all know the players involved, only draft picks need to be resolved.

Alas, I'm only just torturing myself with these pipe dreams.

This idea has absolutely no logic behind it.

If Penny plays bad/get injured he will be on the bench, then and only then Henne will come him.
No team would even consider trading for him during the season.
First off QB's take months to integrate into a system, you would never trade for a QB during the season. Us getting him in the preseason was too short of notice for anyone but a QB as smart as himself.
Secondly, no one would think of trading for a QB who will be a FA the next season. Penny could not even contribute to the team until very late into the 2009 season. Why give up something, when you would be able to sign him as a FA.

Completely off the wall idea, which may even have been an April Fool's Joke.

Is what you said an april fools joke or did you think what i said was im confused on that part.

I guess your right though in a way i think i may have been thinking about nba trading when they trade the guy with an expiring contract because now to think of it i cannot recall a qb getting traded during the season well at least a descent name quarterback

You better hope he plays the whole season or close to it, if he does you'll have a chance to get back to the playoffs. If not, you won't.

:woot:it's all about the real Chad:

1) I think Pennington is in the midst of a Football-Renaissance. he will play until he is legitimately beaten on the field. don't expect him to go quietly into the night. it won't happen. Penny wants to resuscitate his career & by virtue of his performance last year has every right to take a shot at the big enchilada.
2)too much said about a weak arm. the guy played injured for years with the Jests. he's good for a consistent deep pass (60) when healthy & given time to set his feet. The guy played w/o an interior line for most the season & had to make most his plays on the run.
3) he is a one of the top QB's in the NFL. If his production does not wane in 2009, the #2's have no shot @ unseating him. Pennington is the better QB, a Franchise QB & evidently, on the rise.
4) I look for the SecondComing of Pennington: he has been @ work with his personal trainer since last season ended. he will have a real offensive line & running game to work behind. he groomed our WR stable well last year & can reasonably expect a better & more consistent passing game from their end.

Chad Pennington was the biggest surprise of last season, our best player & a bonafide DolphinHero.
I see nothing but promise of good things to come from him. :D

Better not sell the guy short:up:you may come up short

Agreed, Pennington has a year under his belt, has a stronger Oline in front of him and the recievers have a years experience with Peeny leading the offense. Everyone is so worried about his arm..... Dont be this offense is being molded into a run first short control passing game just like the Giants and other run first teams. I would be concerned if the Fins were installing a west coast offense or a vertical game like we had during the Marino years, but that is just not the case. Penny will thrive with a short controlled pasing game. barring injury expect Pennington to have a better year this year. Henne will get his chance he needs to be patient and continue to learn.

Expecting a better year from Pennington completely ignores the difference in schedules. Last year almost every team we played was in the bottom half of the league in pass defense and this year that is going to flip. The quality of defense makes a big difference. Simple regression to the mean will most likely mean more interceptions as well. I think people are setting the bar too high for Chad.

Pennington's playing time is all about him, it's up to him what happens to him...Sprano has made that known.. Now we do play a tougher schedule based on last year's results. But since then we've tweated our OL, and that's where the play starts..if our OL is better, then we should be able to hang with any team..the key to pennington is OL play, as it is with any QB.. There's more pressure on them because of the lack of deep pass. If Chad can throw his normal 40 yard ball and hit it and keep D's honest, then he should be able to help the OL...and thus play calling will be keep to our success this year.. and if chad does those things and we win or play competitive, then the FO will have to make some decisions, and it won't be an automatic turning the keys over to Henne.. hell, we might draft a QB who's better than Henne by the 2010 season...one never knows.. Another pennington may fall into our laps by 2010....
