I don't have his stats in front of me but I remember seeing 17 tds and 16 interceptions one year for Chad. Is that his MO, a one to one td/int. ratio? He is hailed for his accuracy so can his picks (if high in number) be blamed on the alleged weak arm?

I like Chad but the last thing we need around here is another pick 6 guru....Fiedler and Feeley killed me with that crap.

Can this kid give us a 20-25td, 10 int. this year or is he just up and down depending on the comp.?

Over the past 5 years he has a 1.18 TD to INT ratio. On the bright side he's averaged fewer than 10 INT's per year (last 5 years).

If you put talent around him, give him good pass protection, a solid running game, and a good defense he will manage the games for you and consistently do enough to beat the average and bad teams in the league. He's not going to put a team on his shoulders and carry them, but he's serviceable.

it will be nice every time Chad throws the ball we won't have to hold our breath like with all our previous QB's.

I'll be honest with you, watching Chad a year ago, since I am in NY I got a chance to watch him a lot, in the box he was stiffer then usual. He's never been the most mobile QB, but it was worse because he was working with an injured ankle all season, and he was behind a bad line. This forced a lot of the INT's he threw last year.

Well his career QB rating is like something like 88. Wich is way over anybody we've had since Marino...

Chad's career falls into basically 2 categories. The pre-shoulder injury and post shoulder injury. He hurt his shoulder in the 1st qtr of the 8th game of '04 and prior to the injury he led us to a 6-1 record while going 139-205 for 1550 yds w/ 8 TDs and 2 INTs(99 rating).

Pre-shoulder injury(2000 through 1st qtr of game 8 of 2004, 35 games):

615-926, 6968 yds, 45 TDs, 20 INTs, 96 rating

Post shoulder injury(2nd qtr game 8 2004 through 2007, 33 games):

644-993, 6770 yds, 37 TDs, 35 INTs, 82 rating

The thing I like about Chad is he plays with confidence and even if he throws a pick, he seems to put it behind him and not go into a funk the way Carson Palmer and Eli Manning do when they throw one. You have to have a short memory and put picks behind you. Chad always seemed to have pretty big games against us. I think the main thing is Chad needs to learn the playbook quickly and hopefully Ginn/Hagan will get over the "drops" they've had. :rolleyes2:

Which is way better than anything we have had since Danny boy.

Interestingly, his completion% is not noticeably different, although his YPA is slightly less, his TDs a bit down and his INTs way up. It is really the INTs that are incredibly notable.

As a Jet fan, do you place that on his shoulders alone, or were there circumstances (coaching, WRs, OL, RBs, etc.) that are also to "blame" for the drop off/"praise" for the earlier play.

Pennington is pretty good about not throwing a pick. His highest interception totals are 16 in '06 and 12 in '03. Other than that, he has never thrown more than 9 in a season (for comparison, Peyton Manning has said that his goal is to throw 9 picks or less each season).

Other than his injury plagued '05 campaign, he has NEVER thrown more Ints than TDs in a season (in 05' he threw 2 TD and 3 INT's.) Considering the kind of quarterbacking the Miami Dolphins have become accustomed to, this is like gold for us.

I think it's been a combination of decision making and injuries. He's still very smart but alot of his picks last year were late in games where D's knew he had to throw so they had the advantge and he tried to force some balls in that his shoulder wouldn't all him to. 2 years ago he started off great but wore down as the season went along and made some uncharacteristic throws. he'll have a better running game this year which should help BUT he won't have the quality receivers he had here so it kind of balances out. I think he's still good when healthy but his great days are behind him for good.
