I found this QB Target Tracker for the preseason, and I'm pretty surprised with Tannehill's targets. I thought Stills was way more involved, and I didn't think Matthews was 2nd in targets. Do you think there is a chance that Matthews starts as the 3rd WR? Obviously that would be pretty disappointing for Stills, who we invested a fair amount in to. I like Matthews, but I think it's best for the Phins if he is the 4th WR.

if he beats out Stills, so be it. Matthews has been getting some run with the three WR sets ahead of Stills vs. the Falcons, so why not give it a try. Stills will still get plenty of opportunities to contribute even if he were WR #4

No not officially but I think both Matthews and Jennings will take snaps from everyone and play a lot. I think we will rotate our recievers more than our D line!

great problem to have. Great to see how well Matthews has come along

I think outside of Landry that Jennings, Stills, Matthews, and Parker (once he is healthy) will all see about the same snaps. I think Landry sees most of the snaps and the other four are all in a rotation. Matthews has shown the work he and Landry did with Tannehill in the off-season has created a chemistry and shown he has matured as a route runner. He deserves the PT as he produces when he's on the field.

In the last game, RT threw a come-back pass at the first down marker. Matthews was the receiver, yet he just seemed to run a 9 rout, oblivious of the pass. On that play, I wonder if it's been asked who made the error?

Stills has been hurt most of the preseason... those targets are warped. Atlanta was his first game back.

Matthews would be a WR2 on most teams. I think we are going to see how good he is this year.

Another consideration (actually a good problem) is if Matthews does indeed have a breakout season, what is his worth next year? I think it is his contract year? Do we spend on Matthews, Miller or OV? If he is successful do we trade him mid-season? Or is Jennings released next year for youth? Difficult questions if Matthews has "that type of year".

Drafting Parker made Matthews expendable in that scenario... We we still have Parker,Stills and Landry on their rookie deal... there won't be a need to over pay for Matthews. That's exactly what building through the draft means...

I am a Matthews fan, but if half way through the season another team that is thin on receivers would offer a trade we should jump on it. Better to recoup something for Matthews rather than lose him for nothing. In the end Matthews would have a better opportunity to play on another team.

Seems to me like he's earned the playing time this year with his play on the field. I agree that we'll see rotation, often depending on the defense.

One thing is for sure, with Landry, Parker, and Matthews, and then Stills, we have a heck of a young wr group.

Won't shock me if it happens.

Parker likely wont be ready for FULL work Week 1 and Stills seems to have fallen behind due to missed time in training camp with that calf injury.

I could easily see opening day 3 WR set with Jennings, Landry, Matthews. Stills and Parker getting situational work.

By mid-season though, I suspect Parker, Jennings, Landry as the top 3, maybe Stills replacing Jennings in the 3 set for the deep threat.

I don't know what the play call was. But considering the way the ball was thrown it does seem like it was meant to be some kinda comeback, back shoulder like throw. The back shoulder throw is something I want to see more of the season. Especially to a player like Still because of fear of the deep ball and a player like Parker because of his long reach.
