Does the Media Really Care About Tua’s well being

True but this is tua's 4th,5th?. He isn't a cat. He doesn't have 9

4th and actually he could have 9. Troy Aikman had 10 and still broadcast 25 years after retirement.

There is not definite number of allowed concussions, hell we don’t even have test that determine concussions other than going off symptoms.

There’s zero evidence to suggest a few big hits and concussions is dangerous. It’s obviously not great as opposed to none but all signs indicate taking constant hits in the hundreds and thousands is what causes long term issues and CTE, not a few bad ones.

Everyone is different, it’s the recovery that matters. For all we know Tua is susceptible to concussions easier than most but could recover faster then others while in the other hand a player could be harder to sustain a concussion but recover slower.

Cethan Carter is a good example. Week 1 2022 got a concussion, nobody knew, he wasn’t knocked out cold. He spent the entire year on IR with that concussion, the first of his career. He hasn’t played since. Was always a roster fringe player but still not even a practice squad, could still be from concussion issues. He obviously didn’t recover from that one atleast in 2022 meanwhile Tua was able to get 3 concussions that year and be cleared from 2 probably could of been cleared from the 3rd but I believe Miami was cautious about playing him due to optics. This is because we don’t know how to handle concussions other than check for symptoms. No symptoms then they get cleared.

I thought I was a miserable, cynical SOB, but damn, some of you guys make me feel like a poser. Geez.

And the level of paranoia is off the charts on here as well.

Just my 2 cents, but I'd say many in the media and many fans in the country don't think Tua should be on the field and it has nothing to do with any disdain for him as a person or lack of talent. He just does not have the body size to deal with the speed and physicality of the game and aside from last year, he doesn't have the awareness on the field to avoid unnecessary hits. Yes, concussions are part of the game sadly, but he is the only one who seems to be getting them this frequently and going into the fencing position from them multiple times. It's a horrible look and is plain to see the damage being done to his brain.

So, it's going to continue to be this strange situation of knowing this will continue to happen 1 or 2 times a year to the guy while at the same time recognizing his right to play the game and take the risk if he so chooses. The question becomes will the Dolphins cut bait eventually? Try to trade him so another team can deal with waiting for the other shoe to drop whenever he is on the field. Can it even be done with the massive contract just signed by him?

I personally think he did it as he has a burning desire to prove people wrong about their opinion of him. The way his dad raise him failure isn’t really an option.

The media and a lot of the fan base have been vocal since year 1 that he’s not good enough and no matter what he does it never seems to be enough for them.

Interestingly the posters on this board shouting the loudest for him to retire are also the ones who didn’t want him to get extended and they are already trying to figure out much his retirement hurts the Dolphins cap. If they truly cared about his healthy then they wouldn’t give a rats ass about the cap implications.
It's great to have the desire to prove the world wrong, but if your brain becomes pudding in the process, is it worth it?

According to the human interest stories I've seen about how his father raised him, the psychiatric community would have their hands full deprogramming a lot of that abuse out of him.

I agree with you there were some in the media and in the fan base who never thought he was good enough. However, there is a large faction who actually do care about his health and that is specifically why they didn't want him to get that extension - for his own safety as well as selfishly for the team's interests. It is possible to believe the guy has all the talent in the world, but also be realistic enough to understand his body physically can't handle it.

With all due respect, why shouldn't fans be interested in how a potential Tua retirement would affect the Dolphins' cap? You don't think it is a possibility?
