We were to get hit the 10 million in incentives because of the lack of the cba extension. Does this give us money back and the ability to soften the blow. This confuses me

I would think so...how it could not

after all these unlikely to earn incentives were thrown into this year because of the uncapped year in 2007

Yeah, Clump, Clump, Clump!

Isn't he supposed to show up if you say his name three times?

Oh sorry, that's beetlejuice... my bad!

Holy crap I forgot about that, we could be in much better cap shape then I thought. Even with the cap at 102 mill. and after cutting Frerotte, and Restructuring Zach, and J.T. we would have been set, but now we're gonna get some relief on that 9.5 mill. we owed due to incentives as well......NICE!!!

THe unlikely to earn incentives are now taken off the cap, netting us a lot of money (several million) but not all of that 10 million hit was from unlikely to earn incentives that had to be charged to our cap this year based on no CBA I don't think but it is possible that all of it goes away.

I would assume it becomes just like any other bonus, and the cap hit gets spread out over the length of the deal.

didnt even think about that the incentives...man this night has been great.

Gus's incentives will be in this years cap , because he has already earned/
triggered a clause in his contract ( even if released).
Now, if the CBA DID NOT pass, other players with incentives/bonuses
for 2006- and beyond WOULD have count against the 2006 salary cap
because 2007 and beyond would of been uncapped.
So basically all incentives on any contracts would have counted against the 2006 cap( even if not yet earned by the player).
Atleast thats the way I have been informed.
I'm not claiming to be a cap expert, but thats basically it from my perspective.

So , now that the CBA is complete, if we release Frerotte than we would
only accelerate $250,000 into this years cap ( dead cap).
But in doing so we save $4,430,000.
I say see ya later Gus, bring on Brees/Ramsey.
