i just read an article and Golston absolutely BLEW UP his pro day workouts here are some of the numbers.

4.58-second 40-yard dash
42-inch vertical jump
And did 37 reps at 225 at the combine TIED big Jake Long not to mention he was the ONLY person who got around Jake this year

This guy is a stud and a BEAST i know he undersized for a BP style of D but i think he can be a LT kinda player i know nobody will ever be LT again but i mean that guy who just scares you the guy on D no one wants the responsibility to block. He can play OLB and be our D Ware and i think that he can put his hand down and rush if the need be.

What are you thoughts and opinions.

Yeah i know i spelled his name wrong. Vernon Gholston but you know who im talking about

I still think our pick will be Chris Long or Jake Long.

As much as a like the numbers that he got at his pro day and his overall measurables it's still comes down to one thing, can he play football? He's had a stellar career at Ohio State and i think anyone who gets him is going to be a lucky team. I personally think he can be a good player for us but i think that the need for a LT is going to determine our pick.

I'd like to move down a few spots and get him.

i like gholston but who knows if he will be the # 1 pick still a long way away from the draft anything can happen

i think it is going to be jake long or chris long at #1

Just because someone is stronger/faster than you though, does not change all the tape on him. I hate to see people slide or rise dramatically because of combine numbers. You should be watching what they do on the field. Obviously Gholston is a hell of a football player, but he wasn't even in the conversation before his work out.

i wouldn't quite say that it makes him the #1 pick, but you can deposit this in the bank that Vernon Gholston is in Parcells top 3 choices now....

which Vernon Gholston are you talking about?!?!?!?!

I want one of the Longs...but I hate the idea of the Pats getting Vernon G.

My main conern with the Dolphins drafting Gholston is that Gholston is from OSU, a traditional 4-3 team. Gholston has no expierience in a 3-4 and what would he play, the OLB or the end?

I think it very well might put him as an option at #1, but he's essentially got to beat out Chris Long, as they project to the same position in the Dolphins defense.

Gholston seemingly had a much better 40 time and had a nice bench press, but Chris Long performed much better in agility drills.

I personally like Long a little bit better because he's a better technical player, and has experience taking on blockers directly. Gholston has some power no doubt, but he's not playing 2-gap over Tackle, and he's generally getting sacks by beating the defender to the edge and using a speed move to seperate, where Long was forced to, against his body type and size to power through blockers.

Wouldn't it be odd if we drafted Jake Long and the Pats drafted Gholston, and those two continued playing against each other their entire career?

Pretty much every successful 3-4 OLB in the league played DE in college with little to no experience in coverage. Most college teams dont play a 3-4, and those that do are often playing weird variants.

Basically, in the Dolphins defense, if a linemen is under 275 pounds or so he is going to probabaly be playing OLB.
