and WHY was he cut SLIM? you and others keep leaving this out. he was a BUST first round pic of the giants. he got run from there because he couldnt contain QUALITY wr's. he came here, SAME THING!! and thats why we drafted back to back cb's.
will allen has never done one thing here that most nfl db's do EVERY GAME!! he makes a standout out play or two in a year and he becomes untouchable to some fans. he gets over on some rookie or nobody wr and he is the man!!!
i just dont understand the reasoning from all the allen supporters. i see lots of , "man, we need this guy, why was he CUT?" and not much of WHY they think this.
guy has done NOTHING spectacular with miami and is old and injured all the time. so WHY AGAIN DO YOU WANT HIM HERE SO BAD? why?
this isnt accurate and will allen played very well in miami. the knock on him was he couldnt hold onto interceptions, his coverage skills were never in doubt. did u watch the pats game? having a nickel that actually knows its his job to cover his man is clearly an upgrade over what we had on the roster

Look I wasn’t for cutting Sapp and replacing him with Allen. Sapp was beaten badly in this game but so wasn’t everyone playing in our secondary. Singling out Sapp was unfair and may even come back to haunt us, if anyone gets injured. At least Sapp was in good enough shape to play the whole game, can’t say that for the best CB duo in the NFL.
I wanted Allen for Nolan Carrols role. From what I’ve seen from Carroll I just trust a veteran more and the FO agreed with me last year when they brought in 36 year old injury prone Al Harris to fill it until he got hurt. I think everyone has noticed the Dolphins like to move Sean Smith inside to matchup with tight ends on crucial 3rd downs, well that means we need another boundary CB. This started during Jason Allen’s short stint as a starter, continued when Al Harris was brought in than Nolan Carroll did it for the rest of 2010. I thought it worked out pretty well in many cases.
I don’t remember Carroll being awful last year but he had a rough preseason and I just didn’t like the idea of seeing him go up against #1 and #2 WR’s on 3rd downs. In this pass happy league having many CB’s who can play is essential and I think Will Allen can still play. I by no means consider or considered him the “savior” of our secondary just a better option than Nolan Carroll for the situation I described above. As a fan I could give 2 ****s about which player makes more money, just want to see the best players on Sunday.
Now we cut Sapp which means Carroll will likely have to play anyway. Not sure how much it will change things. After all Sapp was going up against the best slot WR in the NFL with the best QB in the NFL throwing the passes.
Im all for bringing Allen back but I dont agree with cutting Sapp over Carroll. Sapp's salary is still on the books for this season, why not keep him as a backup? Does anyone here really want Carroll and Wilson on the field over Sapp?
