Doesnt Seem Like anything is getting done on the Brown Contract

I dunno guys this is a little too strange, there isnt much talk about it and Saban isnt saying much so is there a major disagreement on the numbers cause I havent heard an official report but we are nearing the end of week 2 and to me that is 2 weeks too long for our #2 pick to be holding out, if we cant afford to pay him then we shouldnt have drafted him. I dont understand why we dont just give him the guaranteed money if he is supposed to be a stud then its a win situation for us.

"Obviously, we would like to have the guy here yesterday, but we understand this part of it and we are going to coach the guys who are here and do the best we can with those guys," Saban said. "When that guy comes in, he is going to have to suffer the consequences of where he is relative to everybody else."

He's really killing himself, especially since Ricky is back. while Ricky is out for 4 games, he may not even be the starter. Right now, he can't do anything with the team, can't practice and supposedly can not even have a play book, legally anyway. all he can do is work out on his own to stay in shape and as a rook, will have some time needed to just get used to the spped of the game let alone the offense. Doesn't look good for him or us for the moment.

If Ronnie and/or Cedric aren't signed by the time that Monday's game comes around, they are both going to get slammed by the media for being super greedy. Not that either of them would play in the game at this point anyways, but to have the team start preseason games and you're just sitting at home on your couch shows a lack of dedication. Brown should be lighting a fire under France's butt to get this thing done, and I don't think anyone has heard a peep out of him.

The problem is we are trying to not over pay, like the 49rs did for Smith. 20% increase in money from last years #1?!?!?!?!?!? San Fran got schooled and I hope we don't too. Ronnie can sit until a fair contract gets signed in my mind.

The last John Clayton report I heard had the team offering $19 mil and RB wanting $22 mil in guaranteed money. Going by what Cadillac got, 15% increase over the previous season's slot, $22 mil would be 15% higher.

Oh well, Caddy got 13.5 mill guarenteed, we offered 19 mill guarenteed. He should be happy he was drafted at the #2 and not the #5, still, it's 5.5 difference. Easier said then done. You guys have to remember the NFL is a business, and we are a smart team, business wise we always have been, we never had to clean house like other teams. We can't just give him the money and be done with it. Take into consideration Randy, D-Bos, our safeties, all UFA's next offseason. You can't just say ok Ronnie, take what you want, and screw this team up down the road. The first thing we were told is that Ronnie is here to play football, and that he should have no problem signing. So say Braylon Edwards got 2 million dollars more, worst case, is Ronnie going to be living on the streets. That 2-3 million dollars in cap room signs Randy up for next few years with our cap.
