"I was surprised and a little bit disappointed," Wannstedt said Monday. "I know that he sure as heck could have helped himself by staying, in my opinion, after coaching in the NFL for 16 years."
"If a kid's going to be a top pick, that's one thing," Wannstedt said. "But if the guy's going to be a middle-round pick, then why do it? I'd like to see him stay here and better himself, academically as well as football-wise."
