1. Thompson is too much like Marty Booker and David Boston. He doesn't bring anything new to a 4 wide reciever set. Plus Gilmore is better playing at special teams. He is also really fast as well. Also he is also cheaper. I am a huge Darrius supporter, just think that if Boston pans out he is gone.
2. Can St Clair play guard?
3. I find Romero younger and a little better at run support.
1. I don't see Derrius being cut, whether Boston pans out or not. The coaches will see in training camp when players are allowed to touch each other that Welker can't be counted on to contribute anything to the WR position, which will necessitate 5 WRs plus a return man. Linehan uses 4 WRs too much not to end up having 5 who can play.
2. Yes St. Clair can play guard. He played it in St. Louis and he has been officially moved from RT to RG by Houck. He's working behind Hadnot (who seems to have gathered a big following, for some reason), but don't be surprised if St. Clair ends up a Game 1 starter at RG.
3. Jeff Zgonina will not be cut. In fact, do not be surprised if he is our Game 1 starter at DT until Wright looks like he has grown out of his diapers. Romero over Zgonina to me, is a bit of a joke...and Saban does not demand the same kind of run stuffing ability from the position that Zgonina will play that Wanny/Bates demanded from him.
