Now, I have long had the ability to read and see some interesting mocks. Someone are better than others. But remember that there never exists a mock there are 100% correct. This one will certainly not stand out from the crowd. We all have our own ideas about what individual items is missing on this team, and here I have my own ideas.
This draft is based on picks between number 10 and 20 overall.
Underclassmen added.
#1 Round Pick (13): Rey Maualuga Sr. ILB, USC.
Height: 6-2 | Weight: 260 | 40-Time: 4.75
I have seen innumerable mock drafts recent months with the election of a cornerback here.
While I do not see the need to draft a cornerback in the middle of the first round, so instead, my choice fell on ILB Rey Maualuga from the USC Trojans. An interesting choice in many ways, which also will upgrade a important place in the team when the need is (perhaps) more than at other positions.
The choice is also in good taste of Bill Parcels and Jeff Ireland, so it is certainly not unlikely that Miami could take the great and fast linebacker from USC. Rey Maualuga is known for his physical play and hard hits and is generally in my own opinion, the best ILB in the country. His flexibility also fits very well in the 3-4 scheme. So according to the form he is an obvious choice.
With the addition of the underclassmen’s, Rey Maualuga could be pushed down on the list. So he is difficult to assess, but just a middle choice IMO.
Another type ILB which could result Rey across the way is James Laurinaitis, but he is likely to be away with just Rey Maualuga before the Dolphins should draft. It all depends on our overall ranking. But without going into too much detail, he is now my preferred choice for our first round pick.
#2 Round Pick (44): Brandon Tate Sr. WR, North Carolina.
Height: 6-1 | Weight: 195 | 40-Time: 4.50
I haven’t seen a mock draft with Brandon Tate to us. To the great surprise for me! This boy is definitely a high draft pick worthy, and I think his lack of attention is due to his injury which he incurred later this season.
Regardless of injury or not, he has many important factors we can use. He has "solid" height (nothing spectacular) and some real good hands. He can return the ball at different ways, which may mean we can move Ted Ginn Jr. around at our own needs.
Brandon Tate is ranked by many experts as a high draft choice between wide recievers, and it will be interesting to see whether he ends up.
It is worth to be noticed that we have 2 choices in this round, but I believe with his talent he would be gone before we had to choose again, therefore, the choice fell on him right now. A small reach perhaps, who knows?! We have might done it before (Ginn).
There are different ways to see this election. Right now, we are perfectly with Greg Camarillo, but it is not long lasting in length with a too unstable WR corps.
See, in retrospect, Ernest Wilford has been disappointed so far and Hagans are almost recently been waived. So there is plenty of room for something new here! I like to add more talent here.
The question is whether we will draft a WR so high under Parcels? I doubt a little. But a little understated in my world!
#2 Round Pick (59): DeAngelo Smith Sr. CB, Cincinnati
Height: 6-0 | Weight: 190 | 40-Time: 4.55
To be quite honest, my knowledge is not so much about him, and we can certainly discuss a few better alternatives as Kevin Barnes, Victor Harris or Jahi-Word Daniels. But I love his last 2 years of production in college. After a strong 2007 campaign with the entire 10 interceptions, it sounds much to be something of what we seek. This guy seems to have a talent to be a ballhawk in the NFL over a little time.
He is definitely a first day choice worthy, so why not?! The need of a CB has to be made before the end of the day. And we will get a talented player out of the very little I've had seen from him. But he looked really good. Not the world's best argument I know!
