The season is over and several of our members have expressed an interest in continuing with the torrents during the off season by downloading some of the Dolphin Classic games.

We are looking for volunteers who have DVD or tapes of past Dolphin games .We have several volunteers and we are looking for more.

Please review what you have available and tell us in what state it is in.If you have them on A VCR tape it quite probable that they have stretched over a period of time resulting in tracking errors and drop lines.

If you have games in your collection but you are not sure how to share them we will try to walk you through or give you suggestions. Here are some helpful how-to links

To get the ball rolling I have uploaded a higher quality version of this years great Patriots win (1.34 Gig ).For the technofiles the file is 640X480 ,1396 kb/sec,29971FPS Divx5.0 codecs. I have edited all the pre game stuff which as you remember involved a lot of Dolphin bashing and hero worshiping of Tom Brady and the Patriots. Here is the link.

What is a torrent ? Basically it a file sharing system. The way it works is that a fellow member records the game, edits the commercials, compresses the result into a digital file which is then uploaded to a bittorent site.

To download a copy of the game You need to first install a client (Program). Then you open the torrent file (A text file which gives instructions to your client) and it will start loading the video file on your HD.Here is a link to the official client

http://www.bittorrent.com/ (Disregard the donations request)

For more advanced users http://www.bitcomet.com/ (A resource hog)

In order to see the game on your PC you will need to install the Divx codecs. That only comes into play after the load is complete and you want to see the game on your PC player.BTW many standalone DVD players can also read Divx files if you want to burn the file to a CD..Here is the link for the codecs.

For those who would like to load the game but who need additional technical help check the following FAQs.

We request that you roll back through the thread if you have any questions. The information you seek may have already been answered.

No torrent can be successful without the participation of cappers, seeders and peers(Leechers ) so if you are interested please post on this thread and help me out by bumping the thread once in a while so that the thread can be easily found.

To make these torrents work it is very important that you stay on seeding for at least 24 hrs after you have finished particularly if you have a high speed (BW) connection.

If you want to have a PC copy of last years games here are the links.

NOTE:By the very nature of this thread there are many chat type of posts as we attempt to make connections , etc. Periodically I go through the thread and delete posts which are no longer relevant and necessary.I do this to avoid confusion as situations change and to reduce the size of the thread.

I request that you do the same. Thanks

If someone could show me how to rip them and upload them, I have a Dolphins v Chiefs game featuring Joe Montana.. and I have a copy of a Bills v. Dolphins game from last year (or the year before) where Ricky really went off. They're both on DVD, bought off of eBay.

I've got the 85 bears game on tape and the many other games including the playoff game against the Colts with Lamar Smith.

Yeah I'll go through all my tapes sometime tomorrow and when I'll find it, I'll convert it to DVD and put it up for everyone.

yo, I got the 85 Fins-bears game on DVD. If you all really want me to, I can rip it onto my computer and set it up on bit torrent

What are your specs for creating the torrent files?
I've got some old games I could tweak & make available for the long, slow, summer months...

I don't know how long my company will let me get away with hosting some large files, but I could set up the '85 Bears game, or 82 Jets AFC championship...
No name given because it was a PM.

I have the following svideo, rca, and coax inputs that can be encoded as mpeg2 videos 720 resolution. I can go as high as 12Mbps and as low as 4(without losing to much quality) DVD is 8Mbps and svcd/vcd is 2.1 (no jumps) a game should be roughly 1.5 Gbs with commercials cut out and 2+ with the commercials. I can encode about 1 game a day (give or take with commercials). I use a professional SVCR and progressive scan dvd to input as well as component video for dorect feeds from tv equipment. Unfortunately i do not have the older games but as stated earlier If you live in South Florida i can get them from you encode and bring them back. I have a few filters i can apply to older tapes to make them look cleaner/better as well.

If i can help in any way shape or form please let me know.
Thanks.I appeciate your help. The size and quality of the new torrent is approx.to what we should be shooting for next year. Its a happy medium between Quality and size.

Dont bother capping the Jets Monday Night Meltdown. I'd rather watch Dan's last game than that one.

It takes forever, even with my phone high speed internet, it took more than 24 hours to download.

CrunchTime and other Torrent makers. A .nfo file is usually sent with torrents to give a little more description. If you are making the torrent please edit the following .nfo file If you don't know what a .nfo file is then you don't need to edit it (use notepad or wordpad) I made this earlier today. Crunch make sure you give me the rest of the torrent gangs names so i can give them props in the nfo. The nfo that we are going to use is found at:

http://www.dolphintown.com/Dolphins.nfo

The text version is:
http://www.dolphintown.com/Dolphins.txt

All the work is appreciated guys. I'll help seed once I have the files. I usually leave my torrents up 24/7.

can anyone help me figure out how to play them?

The file needs to finish downloading before you can play them... unlike Kazaa or other P2P networks.
